GNS430 and ILS

After loading the ILS, acknowledging that GPS guidance is for monitoring only, and switching to VLOC mode, I noticed that the anunciator is shows LPV. I don't recall paying attention this before flag when flying a VLOC, but an LPV indication on an ILS approach seems odd to me. Has anyone else noticed this?

In this particular case it was annunciating LPV.

I guess my question is, what should the annunciator really show when you are flying VLOC?

If you're in VLOC, you're flying the LOC/GS. I've noticed this too and assumed it indicated the availability of LPV for that runway.

In the GNS430 manual, it indicates that the GPS guidance switches tolerance as you near the FAF from terminal to approach mode. In the example in the manual it goes from TERM to LNAV to indicate that changeover. I wonder if "LPV" is another option to indicate the GPS guidance is in approach mode? No matter what, if VLOC is selected, the CDI is indicating LOC deviation. I'll have to look at mine the next time I fly an ILS.

If you have loaded an ILS approach, it is not possible for the GNS430 to annunciate LPV.

The only way you're going to see LPV annuciated is if you loaded an identical RNAV approach but have the ILS tuned and the indicator set to VLOC.
