Some pictures I took of Owyhee Dam and the spillway called the "Glory Hole", in South Eastern Oregon. We have had a real wet winter and spring and this Reservoir is full and spilling over the glory hole.

I believe that is true of all the dams and flood control projects in the northwest, with a lot more snow to come down the rivers

That's a good thing, right? Hasn't there been talk about the lack of mountain moisture for the past few years?

Yes, but it is time to shut it down. We have enough moisture, send some to Texas they need some down there.

I doubt most here actually know what the Glory Hole is. The spill way is a submerged tunnel up and to the left of the Dam. It looks like a black round shadow in the water. It is actually the water spilling over the edges of the vertical entrance into the spillway. It is very impressive to watch close up where the water just falls into a hole in the middle of the resevoir.

Interesting. I always think of a Glory Hole as this.

This is the Henderson mine west of Denver where underground mining caused a collapse from above. It's pretty interesting to see from the air.

I've been skydiving and bungee jumping. There isn't a lot that makes me nervous...but for some reason, when I see pictures like that I get anxious. No kidding. I have no idea why. I can just imagine sitting there in a boat fishing and all of the sudden your buddy looks over at you and says "you hear something?"

The Owyhee resevoir one has a walkway to you can walk out and stand right on the edge of it. Lots of chainlink around it but un-nerving none the less.
