At the risk of post-morteming this thing to death, anybody have any regrets about Gaston's? I think most of the people who showed up can say "I regret not taking more time to talk to XXXXXX."

Here are mine:
1) I regret not helping Dean fish out his dipstick, since I was yakking with him when he dropped it and my distraction may have been at least partially responsible. Sorry Dean!
2) I regret not getting there on Friday night.
3) I regret not pestering Brad for a ride in his RV.
4) I really, really regret that I was unable to fly my airplane there.

Regret not having enough time to spend with folks to really get to know them....

Ken, I second your #3.

Other than that, I have no regrets. What it was, it was, easily one of the best times I've ever had. On an occasion like this, you can't possibly do everything or talk to everyone. Sometimes I found myself just looking around the room and gathering everyone together in my head. There were a number of folks I'd have liked to get to know better. We didn't have a chance to talk, but the underlying connection was there anyway.

You can fly your airplane to the next one.

I'm starting to regret having to read all these posts.

LOL!!

That's just part of an orchestrated campaign to boost attendance at subsequent events.

The next step: Convincing non-attendees that this was a case of "be there or be talked about."

I absolutely regret that one!

What happened to the time????? I would really liked to have had an extended one-on-one visit with people who came.

I regret that more people didn't get to know Tom better and even to fly with him or take him flying. He is SO quiet and shy, and is the world's greatest listener, but has so much knowledge and wisdom to share and a great sense of humor.

I regret that some of the people couldn't come who had planned to come d/t weather, aircraft issues, etc.

I regret that we didn't have name tags on from the get-go, since there was still some confusion as to who was who the entire time.

I regret that I didn't take more people flying, and do some aerobatics.

I regret that Dave Taylor and I had to come back early and that we didn't get to do spins.

I regret that I didn't get to ride in EVERY airplane there and with every pilot! :(

I regret that it's over now.

"Ease her pain"

But it's never really over for you with your Field of Dreams <ah> farm. ;)

"Build it, and they will come"

I sense a movie coming on....

One more, but it probably won't be the last one (sorry Anthony :goofy: )

I regret that I can't remember all of the incredibly, outrageously funny or otherwise memorable things that people said last weekend! Does anybody remember any of them?

Cathy, Ken, needs a T206 or a Skywagon, pleaseeeeese?!
Thanks! A half share in a Lance would be just fine, and Paul Fertita has a nice one in St. Augustine ... (what's the emoticon for "scheming"?)

We are already contemplating an appropriate category for which Anthony might qualify, should he dare to show up.

And what could that possibly be? Joe already has best looking. If Ron L. and I showed up, we could start our own "Grumman Corral".

Just a bit of sour grapes that I didn't make it. :) Seems like you guys had a BLAST. The pics and video have been awesome!

A Sour Grapes Award! That's it!!

An idea about this one -- at the Friday night dinner it would be great if each person stood up, told us his name and where from, and maybe said something brief about himself so that others could get to know him. A little introduction like that really pulls everyone together and makes for good conversation-starters.

I'd be waiting for the first person to stand up and announce their name as "Incog Nito".... :D

My #1 regret high above all others is not having the time to sit and talk with more people, as Diana said, the time went way to fast.

Other regrets:

I wish I had done some other maneuvers in the Extra other than the competition banked turns and zoom climbs.

I would have liked to ride in the 195, but I realize Greg had already been such a prince taking others out, so I didn't ask.

I wish the "party" night wasn't the night before the long haul home for most of us. I guess we need to get more people in on Friday for a Friday night bash.
Or, next year, I stay Sunday and fly home Monday.

I regret I won't be able to see you fine people for a good long time.

It went SOOOO fast.

He is, but I did fly with him, he took me for a ride in your plane. Such a gentleman, and so quiet. He let me fly around sightseeing for as long as I liked, then he treated me to the softest landing I think I've ever experienced. Terrific!

I regret that I didn't take more people flying, and do some aerobatics.

Yes, dear, we have some unfinished business!

Special thanks to everyone that showed up.

And a special thanks to you and your wife for raising great kids. Your daughters were very mature, confident, smart, and witty. A real pleasure to converse with.

A couple of guys will be very lucky to have them as wives someday.:wineglass:

I regret the fact that we live so far away.
I regret that I didn't offer to ferry people and stuff from BPK to 3M0.
I didn't get to meet and talk to each and everyone.
I missed the get together on Friday night.
and it all ended too soon.

I think I'm going to cry.

:)

After all this Gaston's talk, would there be interest in a New England fly in, say August time frame? AQW, PSF, 5B3 are all possibilities. Maybe another Fly-b-que like Adam Zucker set up down in PA?

AQW and 5B3 are nice because we'd have more access to the ramp area than PSF. I'd personally suggest AQW because it's one of my favorite airports in MA.

Cheers,

-Andrew

I would be interested in hosting one out our way. How about Johnson Creek in the Idaho back country. They have flush toilets hot water showers, fire pits, good camping facilities. The runway is nice and long and wide. 4900 ft. above sea level though. You all come.

I regret coming within an hour of being able to make last minute plans on Friday to join you all. It's tough being a grown up!

YOU BETTER DO THIS AGAIN NEXT YEAR and you all have to show up so I can join on a "make up date / do-over!"

I'll remember to plan on Arrving on Friday. Being me, we won't have good enough weather next year. The runway will be under water. I'll apologize now for that.

My regrets are:

1. Not coming in on Friday so I could have a few extra hours with some outstanding and interesting people.
2. Not staying a little longer on Sunday so I could spend a few extra minutes with some outstanding and interesting people.
3. And like Diana, not getting a chance to fly with each one of you in your plane, what better way to log time in so many different aircraft.
And to Ken, It was my fault for dropping the dipstick in the tank, slick plastic and sweaty hands do not go together.
Next year I think we should add an extra day or two for more time to get to know one another.
And yes, I am game for a fall fly in somewhere.

Oh! I forgot I didn't get to meet Anthony!

Me too Bob. I've met a few of the attendees at previous events, but not you nor many others. I'll make the next one.

An idea about this one -- at the Friday night dinner it would be great if each person stood up (some of those of short stature many times are standing!!)

told us his (didn't know this was a male only soiree) name and where from (love the Shakespearean manner in which you word things--!!--Romeo--where from art thou Romeo), and maybe said something brief (guess if you wear boxers you're omitted??) about himself (oh yea, the man club thing again) so that others could get to know him. A little introduction like that really pulls everyone together and makes for good conversation-starters.[/QUOTE]

Sorry Toby: I was in a funny mood and you're such a wonderful wordsmith.

Best,

Dave

Sure! I could make a one-day. I could even fly there myself. Just not the last weekend in August, unless you want to hold it up at KVSF. :)

I'll third that and add that I hope my own daughter turns out as nice as Steve's.

I'll come if there's a hotel nearby with walls, a floor and ceiling, a bed, and air conditioning.

I regret that everyone doesn't know Tom well. I've been very fortunate to have known him for years. He is also the GREATEST instructor.

Don't worry too much Bob, I offered to do this and nobody took me up on it.

Been to Johnson Creek, in the Mooney, can you believe it? 'Course it helped that it had a turbo.

This would have to be a camping sorta venue, though....

Yeah! And I will be certificated by then.

Essie and I have always wanted to visit New England in the fall. However I think our vacation budget is overdrawn allready. I sure would like to go however.

Toby, The closest room is in Yellow Pine, about four miles down the road. It is a quite little town except for once a year when they have the harmonica contest.:goofy:

Ohhh, airplane camping! And in Idaho. I can go for that. Campground sounds too tame though...who the heck needs showers and flush toilets?? :dunno:

Now I have to finish getting that PP cert. Grr!

Sorry. I'll try to make it next year. I really need a plane. The pictures and posts here, especially Chips video, made me really wish I was there. It's motivating...

I don't know about anyone else but from the pictures I could tell who was there by the planes better than the faces of the less well known people. Maybe computer printed color nametags with a photo of their airplane next year?
