OK, we're a "GO" folks! I've received fantastic help organizing this from several members of the board--you know who you are... thanks, guys! We still need three more volunteers for judging / officiating on Saturday night... should be folks familiar with poker scoring.

If you plan to participate, please reply, copy the list below, and tag a new line number and your name onto the end of this list. Remember that both pilots AND passengers can participate, and play one hand each. We have room for up to 52 participants:

Troy, is it mandatory for people to sign up here? I post information about the fly-in on other forums. Some of the people coming to the fly-in don't get on this forum, and some don't get on any forums at all, but they still might want to participate.

Hi Diana. What Jesse said! As the 'rules' say, registration is NOT required... it is helpful for me to know how many are participating so we can send MORE cards to the FBOs if we do get near 52 participants (which would REALLY surprise me).

Please, though, do post the URL to the Google Document with the rules on your other forums, so participants know how the game will be played!

I love the player nicknames folks are coming up with...
 
By the way, Ross Fischer has volunteered as a judge. I need two more, please, who are familiar with poker scoring, the rules for breaking ties in the same hands, etc.

I just followed Chip's lead -- go to http://www.thepokerforum.com/handnames.htm and pick a hand/name you like. Mine doesn't really have any true 'meaning' other than the fact that I pretend to hunt every once in a while. I'm curious as to what made 'Big Slick' catch Chip's eye, though.

Jesse added a "Poker Run?" yes/no drop-down to the event's web page. So please go to www.GastonsFlyIn.com, register/log in, click "Annual Fly-In" at the top, then click "Attend Fly-In" on the left to add/edit your registration to indicate your participation. Still would like to keep a talley here as well, since we can see multiple participants per attendee, and your poker monikers.

Joking aside, Diana, I think that, when you reference the fly-in elsewhere, it would be prudent to post a link to the PoA Gaston's forum as the best resource for interactive discussion of the Fly-In; this would help to avoid missed connections and duplicated efforts.

The website has concrete details; this forum, the discussions that give texture to the dry facts.

Just my $0.02.

Ron "Ace" Levy will not know until a couple of weeks prior if he will be free to attend, but if he is, he would like to be dealt in.
 
For those of you that haven't read the "rules" for the Poker Run, be aware that the event is NOT limited to Saturday morning participation (which had been suggested in the original thread).

We've set up the event so you can pick your playing cards anytime beginning Sunday June 1st at the participating FBOs. Therefore, you can get your cards inbound to Gastons if you don't want to leave once you get there, or at any other time, in multiple trips or in a single trip--whatever fits your fancy!!

Let's get a few more chairs pulled up to the table!

That's alright Spike, there's no skill of any kind needed on a poker run. Just pick up your cards and open the envelopes at the table. We, judges, will do the rest.

Thanks guys for putting me back. I was just going to sign up again at the end. Spike and my posts were almost exactly 24 hours apart, which is sort of weird.

Too bad bluffing doesn't help with this kind of poker. :D
