Okay, what happened to updating the Garmin data bases? It used to be incredibly difficult. Now, you add your device to the list and you click on what updates you want. Simple easy, no typing in long codes, just click & go. I'm up-to-date for a whole year!

Sweet! :yesnod:

I even updated the road map in my 496.

Do they have internet service in Switzerland?

Interesting. I thought the old system was a lot easier, and have issued more than a few expletives in honor of the new one. The old system didn't have any typing in of codes, you were supposed to cut/paste them.

I guess the new one might be easier once you jump through the hoops of getting yourself setup, but you can't get anywhere without doing that. Before, you used to be able to just go to a web page and check prices, or download whatever you need, but now you have to sort of register your situation with them before you get access to anything.

I tried to figure out how much it costs to update the obstacle database in a 430W, and had to spend a few minutes registering all my information with them before I could find out. The most fun part was guessing a fake serial number that the software would think was close enough to a real one that it would let me get past that screen, as it saw right through my first few made-up guesses.
