Garmin GTN-series PC trainer released

If you want to play with the new GTN touch screen avionics, they released the trainer. I'm excited to see if it works "touch screen" on my HP TouchSmart.

Even smarter for Garmin would be to release this trainer and demo as apps for the different tablets. The touch screen are aleady there and this makes a logical hardware platform for learning their "button-ology".


Speaking of touch screen interface, I wonder if we'd see Garmin do multi-finger gestures like the iPad and other tablets incorporate.

I think the touch screen concept for panel mounted avionics is an interesting one to adopt. Opens up lots of possibilities like we've seen incorporated into the tablet world.

I laugh at myself when I switch from my iPad to my Toshiba netbook, and I start poking the screen and wondering why it won't zoom or select the links.

The video playlist at the end of their post has a handful of videos that run through all the basic functionality; it's enough to get you started/familiar.

Cool, thanks. I started messing around with the sim without looking through the videos to just to see how intuitive the unit is without any previous GTN experience. I think it is pretty darn easy to use! The touch buttons and menus are actually very easy to use/navigate in my opinion.
