I had this same problem, here is what fixed it for me, to use with the new Garmin app. Download the app called Bluetooth GPS (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=googoo.android.btgps&hl=en). Then, I additionally had to enable the "Use Insecure Connection" option within the Bluetooth GPS app, and then turn on Enable Mock GPS Provider on the main page.
Edit: I should say that's the procedure that got my Garmin GLO working on my Lenovo A1107.
