Tuesday, a buddy asks me if I want to go to Miller Park.
"In Milwaukee?"
"Yeah."
"Why?"
"Got an extra/free ticket, it's yours if you want it."
"I'll let ya know."

So at 2pm Friday, I let him know I'm in. Scoot out of work, hop in the plane, land at Timmerman. He starts bitching at me...
"I gotta drive half the day to get here with the family, and you show up in like 10 minutes."
"Sorry."

We grab a bit to eat at this little bar called 4th Base down on National, then walk over to Miller Park. Brewers win (I don't really care if they do or don't, but the fans were loving it.) Then we go back to 4th Base, and pretty much close it down. Played Farmer's Dice against the bartender and won, so free shots for us. Followed up with Taco Bell, and then back to the airport this morning. I launch with the ceilings below minimum at Hastings, but time it perfect and break out at minimums and I can see the ground and cruise on into the airport.

Flight time - less than 2 hours r/t. Nice.

Very cool Ed! I like the Timmerman airport too. Nice place very friendly.

I stop there from time to time to go the restaurant that is close by. A couple of my acquaintances keep their airplane there and have nice things to say about the place.

I love trips like that. Awesome, Ed.

And you friend wonders why you fly. Ha!

Oh, he doesn't wonder, his dad owns an Apache. He kept saying he needed to learn how to fly. Problem is, he can't get a plane big enough that he could afford. He has 3 kids, but for a weekend trip his wife need 6 different outfits! They had one of those roller bags that would fit 4 carry-on roller bags inside it for the weekend, and it was FULL!

Apache might be a a little anemic for his wife's packing, but if he got 5 seats would definitely have the room. An Aztec would fit the mission just fine, so would a 310 or a Baron. A Travel Air might do it, if he and the kids packed light.

Problem is that you you still need a couple hundred hours in singles prior to twin transition if you want to get insurance. It's difficult in that situation, because it means you have to devote a couple years of flying part of the family around before you can really use the plane for full-family trips.

I was thinking more along the lines of a Cherokee Six for him.

OH! Small world. I sit next to her at work. When the family went to Disney World for a week, she was able to get by with only 10 pairs of shoes...

I was at the Friday game at Miller Park. Huh.

Was going through old threads I started and tumbled across this one. So I'm Necromancing.

Same buddy, has now relocated to Kansas City. I shoot him a text joking that the Tigers are playing the Royals on Monday. He calls be back, "Hey we're going to the game, and we got you a ticket." So I'm off to Kansas City on Sunday to catch the Tigers play the Royals. :D

That is stinkin' cool!

That's what it's all about! Nice!

It gets better.

Get a text from another mutual friend
"Hey, can I tag along to KC?" and then a text from the original friend,
"Can you bring a 3rd guy?"
"Who and why?"
"I had to buy at least two more tickets, and I need 3 subs for Sunday league doubleheader."

Checking Airlines...
GRR-->MCI on AA @ $436ea
Comanche @ $5.50/gal - $429 total, and I'll beat door to door time each way by 2 hours.

2 games of ball a MLB game, and 4 of us getting in trouble for two nights for under $150each. Sweet.
