Does anyone know how to permanently adjust he backlighting on Garmin G5s? I don’t do a lot of night flying but when I do, I always have to manually increase the backlight on my G5s. They are always too dim. It’s not a huge deal to manually adjust them but it would be cool if I could permanently adjust the gain or something.

There are settings in configuration mode that can be configured, one of them being the "Default Mode" setting.

I just went through this in my G5s. I found I was always adjusting my backlights to 40-45% when it got dark, so I set the minimum to 40% on both last week. I have yet to fly at night since making the change, so I can’t say how it works yet. Here are the settings on the Backlight configuration page.

Thank you! I'll give this a try.

Have done this a few times, the default setting form the factory is to low for night flying in my opinion. I usually have to look up the instructions (partially posted above). I fly a lot of different airplanes and find most G5's are still set to the factory defaults and are to dim. I seem to recall getting into the configuration menu required holding down a button while the unit is powered on.

Yes, press the knob while powering on to get to the configuration pages.
