I'll update the thread to let you know what I find out as I work my transition.
 
To update this thread with my findings:

The Mindstar made it a little easier to practice PFD interpretation in MS flight simulator.

When it comes to practicing buttonology for say entering a flight plan, the Garmin sim worked very well. Very few of these functions, if any, are available in the Mindstar or MS G1000 sims.
