We just shipped a lot of Icebox units to pilots in Texas. Mostly in Houston and San Antonio area.

The cooler is either $299 wired model or $399 wireless model.

The coupon discount that the PofA guys are ordering on our site is
- Icebox Full system with all accessories (Battery, Bluetooth Control, Gel Packs and Pilot Cable) for $730
- with the coupon the total is $580 right now

For pilots on a budget we have the $299 Icebox and it works great too.

To clarify, the bluetooth controller that has the extended cooling algorithms... works only with the Wireless model Icebox.

With the wired model, you just plug it in and activate both pump and fan same time. No separate control over each device.

The wireless model has separate controls (Wireless fob A/B) for fan and water pump and thats how we can access the pump separately. The BT control (with the app's finger slider, or analog physical knob) controls the pump from 0 to full blast (0 snowflakes to 10 snowflakes) and everything in between using the algorithms to extend your cooling life.

If you're around a Costco, this is a good, cheap accessory for the Icebox.
$6 for an insulated collapsible cooler bag.

Most pilots just leave the Icebox in the plane and bring the cold ice or gel packs to the airport, from freezer at home or gas station. Then you fill IceBox before flight, and pump out the water after the flight using Extension water hose and Aux Battery.

You never have to lift the cooler out of the baggage compartment.
And it will keep your ice/gel packs colder and not melting, on the way from the parking lot to car, to plane, etc.

I heard an interesting Radiolab pocast on my long flying trip last week, and started thinking about this concept of ice nucleators and bacteria which helps snow machines work, snowflakes, etc. Watch the video

For years everyone is asking for Dry Ice to be used in the icebox, for getting a much longer cooling duration but it's not safe (CO2 by product).

But adding some of this P. Syringae in the mix could really change things. Can anyone in the Bio field comment on this?

APP UPDATES --- We are going to put all our efforts behind the new app design, since we can extend the cooling time much longer now and reduce power draw! You will see a free App update soon that brings in a new feature for Icebox users. Now the IceBox will "learn as it goes" and tune your flight and pump speeds, to altitude climbs and descents (gps) and your own unique flight times and requirements.

Typical session with IceBox and Bluetooth Controller
Pre-cool the plane with setting of 100% and Aux Battery unit
* Use the custom Pilot cable to switch IceBox power to alternator, without disrupting A/C operation*
Taxi at 80%
Climb out at 60%
Cruising at a cooler altitude? Drop the % to 0 or 10%
* Keep the fan running to recycle the cooler air, only available on Icebox with 2x device remote*
Descend at 60%
Taxi at 80%
Park and Master off, but switch to Aux Battery mode and Relax inside with the Icebox at 100%
Deplane and pump water out at 100%

The "smart slider" turned ON will remember your session and pump/temperature curve created. After a few uses, the app will make each IceBox work in a unique way for your location, humidity levels and fuel mixture used.
