Hey guys,

We are running a special price for Sun n Fun this month, to allow more pilots the benefit of our new Industry first -- the Icebox Bluetooth 'Smart' Controller.

On checkout, use coupon code bluetoothsnf for the $150 price reduction on a 12 or 24V Wireless Full System.

Last season, pilots on this forum helped us develop the new Bluetooth controller, which used a microcomputer to wirelessly control the Icebox Air Conditioner. The algorithms we designed increased IceBox cooling time and reduced power consumption, allowing pilots to to see their real-time temperature output. We are now in almost 2000 GA aircraft; and many business Jet aircraft! Thanks to all involved here.

IceBox Portable AC and Bluetooth Controller

The IceBox is a portable air conditioning system, for your car, boat or airplane.

For Pilots: No more flying in a scorching hot cabin! Turn ON the IceBox during preflight and cool your cabin down before engine start. Jump in and experience a comfortable taxi and departure to a cooler altitude. Enjoy hours of IceBox cooling power and control your comfort with the Wireless Remote (Pump and Fan controls). TIP: During cruise flight, Turn OFF the water pump at altitude with the included 2x button Wireless Remote to sustain the longest A/C possible. In Cruise Flight Mode -- Keep the fan running to push cooler air through the cabin.

Accessories

- Bluetooth Thermostat, extend the length of your IceBox cooling power. Use with or without Smart App.
- AUX Battery for Stand-Alone Operation and Pre-Cooling the Airplane (RunTime: 1.5 Hours, Dimensions/Weight: 7.5x4.5x7, 7.5lb)
- Pilot's Cable to switch between ship's power and Aux Battery (useful for preflight, fuel stops and post-flight draining the box)
- Custom Gel Packs for Ice Substitute (One "IceBox" gel pack has 10x more cold material than consumer packs; Contains a thin insulation sleeve to transfer cold BTUs out, rather than the hard insulated store-brand types. Reusable 'fuel' Save $$ on Cubed Ice)
- 24V Adapter for use in any 24V electrical system
- Aux Battery Charging Cable

Order here if interested. Specs and Info on the site

APP UPDATES --- We are going to put all our efforts behind the new app design, since we can extend the cooling time much longer now and reduce power draw! You will see a free App update soon that brings in a new feature for Icebox users.

Now the IceBox will "learn as it goes" and tune your flight and pump speeds, to altitude climbs and descents (gps) and your own unique flight times and requirements.

Typical session with IceBox and Bluetooth Controller
Pre-cool the plane with setting of 100% and Aux Battery unit
* Use the custom Pilot cable to switch IceBox power to alternator, without disrupting A/C operation*
Taxi at 80%
Climb out at 60%
Cruising at a cooler altitude? Drop the % to 0 or 10%
* Keep the fan running to recycle the cooler air, only available on Icebox with 2x device remote*
Descend at 60%
Taxi at 80%
Park and Master off, but switch to Aux Battery mode and Relax inside with the Icebox at 100%
Deplane and pump water out at 100%

The "smart slider" turned ON will remember your session and pump/temperature curve created. After a few uses, the app will make each IceBox work in a unique way for your location, humidity levels and fuel mixture used.

Stay tuned and thanks for all the orders here, the $150 discount we are running got a lot of new pilots set up

Happy to help all the new orders over the weekend. Enjoy your Icebox system and the $150 discount

See you guys at Sun n Fun later this month.
We'll be doing live product demos and giving away free items if you come say Hello

We've been filming in the workshop to show the Icebox under various settings
- 35lb ice vs Gel packs
- Bluetooth controller ON (Settings 50%, 80%, 99%, etc) vs Bluetooth controller OFF (Setting 100% speed)

We made the videos as objective as possible. Temperature sensor running throughout the session, analog clock on the wall, and pictures every 20mins inside the cooler. We can show
- How much ice fuel is actually left at different stages of the flight
- Time lapse video of each session, with Temp/Time output via Graph overlay

The results have been great. We have burned over 1000lb of ice to conduct the tests and have documented everything with easy to read graphs.

1) Lowest temp recorded with the Icebox was 34F and held cooling over 3 hours (Bluetooth OFF in this test)
2) Wind Speed measured by our new digital anemometer at 23mph

Pictures below. Graphs and Videos coming, I'll post soon

Heres a cool animation and graph showing the Icebox filled with 8 cups of water and 35lb of ice.

Coldest temp - 38F
Cooling Duration - 2.5hrs
Ice Still Remaining - after 2 hrs

Below you'll see a quick animated Gif capturing 30min intervals throughout the test. Also a graph of the temp/time curve for the same session.

Note: Lowest temp recorded at 38F on this test! We continue to drop the lowest temperature values and cooling delta using an easy trick. I'll post notes soon which lets you get your temps much lower than before, just using the same ice cubes.

Tips for IceBox users to get your temps even lower

Fill reservoir with as much ice or gel packs as possible; The icebox can hold up to 35lb of ice. When the ice gets piled up close to the lid, it acts as a 2nd heat exchanger (3rd in our case, since IceBox has a dual radiator design) and lets the air pass through the ice pile on the way to the fan intake.

Simply by filling the Icebox 100% full, and using rock-hard ice, we were able to get the temps down the lowest we've recorded -- 34F !

Also, consider this $150 walmart freezer. We got one for the shop and its really changed the ice quality from OK-store bought, to rock-hard and really good quality for more cooling power.

We finally got our custom radiator samples back from the factory, and they look great.

In our testing, the auto-style heater cores and various heat exchangers out there work alright, but the fin pitch (fpm) needs to be wider so that condensation can drip down and not get stuck in the fins. Pilots that fly in areas with high humidity will feel a Drop in air flow from the Fan, if the fins get stuck with water droplets.

So, we made our own heat exchanger now and custom designed the fpm and surface area that the hot air flows over. Also, each Icebox gets 2x of these radiators stacked together in a slight stagger to increase the IceBox cooling power even more.

We posted our new time-lapse video showing:
- Icebox full of Cubed Ice + 0.5g H20 to prime lines
- Temperature sensor and Analog clock recording time-lapse session
- Pictures inside the unit of Ice quantity available, over time
- Duration of Cooling ~ 2.5hrs

Check numerous flying magazines in the next few weeks for articles with the IceBox, and see you at Sun n Fun next week!

P.S. You can press pause at any time in the video to catch the time/temp values and you'll see me jump in the frame to take the ice pictures

We've done some new testing with the Icebox vs 2 competitor devices.

The fuel used in the test was cubed ice and chilled water across the board.
Results below; we also did the same time lapse video with analog clock and pictures every 20mins inside each cooler to show the speed of ice melting/cooling duration.

Wind speed - 23mph across the board
Cooling power - icebox 2.5hr, competitor1 0.9h, competitor2 1.5h

Come see the live demos next week during sun n fun if you're flying in
