Freakin' Thieves!!!!

I just never have, and never will, understand the desire some people have to even start using drugs. It just makes zero sense to me, and never has.

Same here. I just don't need to be controlled by an outside substance to help me feel something, legal substance or not. I don't even do caffeine. I gave up soft drinks 5 years ago. It takes a lot for me just to take a pain pill. With the recent minor surgery I had, they gave me the anesthesia without asking me.

I tease a friend of mine. He gets up in the morning and says, "Don't talk to me, I'm nothing without my morning coffee". I tell him he is nothing with his coffee....

I have seen several people loose quite a lot just for a little "recreational drug."

I enjoy my (one cup) of coffee in the mornings, but that's about it. Never drank a lot of sodas, and recently I've had almost none. Pain pills? I can't remember the last time I had an over the counter one. Only had vicodin twice - once with wisdom teeth (took two pills - once when the novocaine wore off and then another one before bed so that I could sleep easily - threw the rest out) and the other with the "No More Kids" STC. Basically same deal - after the first 24 hours I was done.

But that's me. My mom's the opposite. She's had some pretty major surgeries in her life, and likes her Percoset when she gets prescriptions. Doesn't seem to have ever gotten to the abuse state that I can tell, although there are times we wonder. Those times we wonder are when she's actually pleasant (which is unlike her). "Mom, something's wrong. You're actually being nice. Are you on drugs?" ;)

No updates, unfortunately.

Were pulling for ya, buddy. I understand your feelings. You work and spend money for things then some low life comes along and destroys property and takes what belongs to you just to get a few bucks.

Years ago I used to be a mechanic. I worked on mostly big trucks before I started working on high performance vehicles. In 1978 someone broke in and stole my tool boxes. I was able to follow their trail that led into Louisiana. There I found that at that time the local LA law enforcement did not care one bit about anyone's problems until green exchanged hands. Not only did the thieves get away with it but they were also protected by local law enforcement by their non-action.

Insurance covered about 16K of the approximately 20K I had invested. I have no feelings for thieves. I do not care about if they are professionals or good people that just hit hard times or kids looking for a little fun. Over the years I had a race car stolen, (recovered by me) and a race engine stolen, (recovered) and various engine parts stolen. (most recovered) so I hope no one minds that I feel that having people arrested and charged and held responsible is a light sentence to me.

Gotta love this thread. "yeah, I don't understand how anyone could do drugs, except coffee, and alcohol, and ..."

My boss had a good sense of humor. When I said to him 'no coffee no workee' he replied 'no workee no coffee. He and I did hit it off well working together.

Update:

The fuzz questioned one or two of the kids that were seen snooping around. They did admit to being out at the airport prior to the robbery when my friend saw them out there, but denied coming out and stealing anything later. Apparently, sometime after the initial questioning, one of the boys admitted to the cops that the ring leader had asked for him to lie to the police, then changed his story. When the ring leader was questioned a second time, he told a different story. The father of the ring leader was questioned also, and told the police that he believes his son, and any further questioning will be done with his attorney present. Sounds to me like they are probably the culprits, but without admission, there is nothing to pin it on them.

I learned today from the football coach, that the kid has since dropped out of school here. Don't know if he's going somewhere else or if he dropped out completely. He's a dud.

Figured that would be the likely outcome. They'll figure they got away with it. Can't necessarily blame the dad for trying to keep his kid from not having a federal offense on record, question is how the punishment at home will be.

They broke into private property, breaking locks to do so, and took someone else's property. Cut them slack because they're good athletes? I hate to see that attitude. It leads to people thinking they can get away with anything. You can read about it in the news all the time, rape charges on HS football players that get swept under the rug, etc etc...

Probably because dad knows the truth, and this probably wasn't the first time dad has been the person of interest in an investigation.

I would have told dad that I would like for dad to bring an attorney for questioning with a judge present.

I work in the school system and can relate to a lot of the thoughts posted here... Shame you haven't had this wrap up yet. Last night we were loading our boat up and I walked up to my buddies truck at the boat ramp to find all 4 windows smashed in. Nothing gone or missing, radio in tact, gold bracelet he left in the truck still sitting on the center console, but both side driver and passenger windows smashed in. Can't understand some people.

Isn't a federal offense because it happened on a public airport?

The OP said RC planes were stolen, so doesn't theft of aircraft alone make it a federal matter, whether at an airport or not?

If you read this thread in it's entirety, you should know that this is not the case. It has nothing to do with his athletic skill, only that his participation in athletics puts him in a position to be punished by the coaches. Harsh punishment, I might add.

Anyway, it's all moot since the police don't have any evidence to support a case against them, and the head d-bag has quit our school.

I did find out that he enrolled in school over in the next town, about 10 miles away.

Ted,

Our field has signs warning that tampering with aircraft is a federal offense. Perhaps a simple visit from the FBI would convince these kids it is not wise to go on an airport to steal.

Sure, if you could get the FBI to cooperate with that. Looks like the field office in OKC isn't too terribly far from Okie's hometown, but you still have to convince them to come based on a crime that you may know they commit, but have no evidence for. That's probably going to be a hard one to convince them on.

Yeah, I'm betting the FBI wouldn't be inclined to come down and scare a couple boys who may or may not have stolen a couple thousand dollars worth of tools and toys and didn't touch any of the expensive stuff. I think they have better things to do. As much as it hacks me off personally, it's small potaters.

Exactly. Now if they'd shown any evidence of actually trying to steal the airplanes, that might be different.

Ah, come on now. If you read the thread, you know you're off base here. My way would be the only real punishment they would get. No slack, just prolonged intense physical punishment, community service, and a healthy dose of public shaming.

It's all moot though.

Okie,

I'm with you. A visit from the feds would surely put the fear of God (AKA the feds) into those teens.

Getting they kicked off a football team for B&E is weak punishment.

Haha. That's obviously a world you know nothing about. If you didn't play high school football, or didn't play for a tough coach, I wouldn't expect you to understand. You ever been pushed to complete muscle fatigue? Until you can no longer stand? I have, and I wasn't even in trouble. Imagine doing that for days and days and days. Quit and the law can have ya. Take it like a man, and earn the respect you threw away. Weak? H*ll no.

I'm out.
