Just back from vacation to 1B5. Stayed at the Franconia Inn across the street from the airport. 2300' grass field at 1100' MSL. 45' tress to the north and 75' trees to the south. Very active soaring club. The club president loves the field and spends countless hours grooming and fixing. Still there is a pretty good bump about 1/3 of the way north from the south end.

The Franconia Inn is a genteel old place with a good restaurant (husband and wife chefs) which makes great food.

Took a day trip to Hampton NH (7B3) to get lobstaaa rolls. Restaurant on the field serves a generous portion at a reasonable price. Landed on the perfect grass runway and took off on the equally perfect asphalt runway. Last time I was there only grass. I was told the hard surface runway was built in 2014. Rumor has it this T8F (N1816B) would soon be for sale. I don't know anything else about it.

After Hampton flew the Maine coast (down east) to just north of PWM.

Being in the mountains for the first time since I was a student pilot I was reminded that mountains make their own weather.

Nice! We flew into Laconia in July as another one of our planning trips for moving up in a couple years. I'm looking forward to checking out all the regions strips.
