ForeFlight Update for iPhone (Dec 11, 2017)

The latest update for FF on iPhone recently became available in the App Store.

This finally dumps the old interface we've had for a year or three and brings the iPhone to look like ForeFlight for the iPads. It also takes advantage of the screen real estate for the latest editions of the iPhone and iPads.

I just downloaded it to my iPhone 6 "regular" and it looks/feels much better than the old interface. And it appears to load/launch a bit faster too.

After downloading the app, it will ask to download the databases again, but if you are on a fat internet pipe, that won't take very long.

Shout out to Tyson (@CodeMonkey) and crew for keeping a good app relevant!

Just looked. Profile view is not there. Wish it was since I too use it to make sure altitude selected is clear of obstacles.

What other features are on your "iPad only" list?

Still not perfect, but the new update allows a lot more functionality. I use the "big" iphone and wish it just put the ipad foreflight on there sized down... Unlike a lot of people, I only use it for pre-flight and as a secondary source of charts. GTN functionality is enough for me. Girlfriend likes to use the Ipad/ Rammount to watch movies..

GTN 750. Other than the occasional need for a fast glance at at a sectional everything is right there. Doesn't replace foreflight in pre-flight planning but in flight its mostly all inclusive

Wish they would allow you to get IFR Clearances like FLTPlan.com and not have to get on the phone the old fashion way

I like the update. The iPhone is my primary “magenta-line-following” tool in the yokemount, while the iPad resides in the map pocket ready to be called upon for more detailed info when necessary. The iPhone can’t replace the iPad, but this new format on the phone works better for me.
