Rumor was that WingX got a large DoD contract last year also.

I think Avare and a couple of other bit players are the only companies without large fleet contracts paying the majority of their bills now.

Frank, I did my IR on naco charts and I’m perfectly good with them. I never saw the need to $pend the extra for Jep.

Did my IR on naco as well... %99 i will be staying with them too..

I would say it depends on how much you fly, what kind of airports you fly from or into, and how much IFR you are flying. Basic works okay for me.

Yeah. It’ll be interesting to see which software companies scramble for the big bucks from RFQs for fleets... once fleets figure out the features they really want. Many have just grabbed whatever someone in charge of the decision liked and run with it. I don’t think it’s gotten fully competitive yet.

A friend who works for one of the big three legacy airlines has some software I’ve never heard of that they paid someone to make for them. Might have been Jepp but it isn’t Jepp branded. It only runs on iOS and appears to be totally awful user-interface wise.

He hates both the iOS platform (all sorts of problems managing a fleet of iOS devices) as well as the EFB software his company chose, but he still prefers it over lugging a 25 lb chart case everywhere.

iOS needing individual Apple IDs to manage devices and no good way to do it inside of the Apple ecosystem is a HUGE problem for fleets and companies. Without expensive third party software loaded on them right as they arrive, managing them centrally is a total disaster. Android isn’t much better but at least it doesn’t need permission from the mother ship to wipe the device and start over.

Question i have....

Are the Jeppesen charts worth the additional $100 on FF? I dont fly out the US..

Why would i use jepp vs naco?

Thoughts?

I use FltPlanGo for my charts, which are georeferenced, and those are NOS. I would prefer Jepps after using them for over 30 years at the airlines, the last 4 on the EFB. However FltPlanGo is free and Jepps aren’t and the advantages of Jepps IMO isn’t even worth an additional $1
