ForeFlight hardware requirements vs other EFB's?

Just curious what everyone's experience is with FF vs other EFB's from a hardware perspective.

I have used Garmin Pilot for several years and my trusty gen 4 ipad would adequately run it. Also my iphone 6+ would run the app several hours before a charge was needed.

Due to a recent panel upgrade I'm now using ForeFlight, but have noticed the app is a dog on my ipad and my iphone only had about 60% of it's battery after a 1 hour flight.

Is this performance typical? Are there some settings I can/should tune for better performance?

I carry a charging cable,,that way I don't have to worry.

Yes, FF is a power hog. I have to keep the iPad plugged into the USB port for any flights over a couple hours. I don't seem to have anywhere near that problem with FF on my iPhone 6S though. It will happily run for longer than my bladder can stand being in the air continuously.

Don't have any experience with other apps to compare.
