Thanks for posting the link. That was pretty interesting. I'll have to check out some of the other years too.
 
The Cessna's and Pipers of yesteryear keep soldiering on despite the best attempts of corporations like Textron to kill them in an attempt to remove them from further liability.

I think most people think Ford when they hear tri-motor, but apparently it took three motors to convince a lot of the public it was safe to fly back then!

The CAA required that any portion of an airline route be flyable with an engine out. No twins could do that until the DC-2.
 
Flying along and ATC issued us traffic, an American Airline Fokker, Capt looks over at me, shet eating grin, and transmits, "we have that Fokker in sight".
