We get a lot odd ball stuff to powder coat, but this is a first.

A header for a straight 8 engine. That is the intake manifold above the header, it's a one piece assy.

Who knows - I've only seen a couple of in-line eights, a header for one, never.

None that I knew of. The Jags had in-line 6s since the 50s, but I don't know what was in the older ones (before they were actually called Jaguars).

Old American cars (like the Pontiac Chieftain) sometimes had straight eights. That piece looks similar to what I think those engines had. They had side-valve heads that weren't cross-flow, i.e. similar to that design. Those straight eights sometimes had cast iron pistons. They were extremely smooth. With a good exhaust system you wouldn't be able to tell that they were running at idle. A friend of mine has a '53 Chieftain - very cool car.

Don't forget a few of the Daimlers (not to be confused with Daimler-Benz) had V8s as well.

1953 was the last year of the straight 8 for Buick. My 1954 was the first for the V-8 and 12 volt electrical.
