Curious how many besides myself, Spike and Arnold Feldman on POA are Attorneys?

And how many belong to LPBA ( Lawyer Pilots Bar Assn) and/or IATSBA ( International Air & Transportation Safety Bar Assn)?
 
I took an extra B-law class in college. Helped with the CPA exam. Not a lawyer.
 
Not an attorney, I just deal with you guys all day . Stenographer.
 
I took “Law 101” in college 40 years ago. Will that do?
 
Retired attorney although I still do limited pro bono work and serve as a professional in residence in a clinic at my law school. Never been a big fan of bar associations. Have been a member of the usual suspects - ABA, ATLA and FBA - and some of the more limited ones like INLA. Thought about the LPBA but never got around to joining since I never practiced in that area.
 
I'm a recovering lawyer. Got my degree, never sat for the bar exam or practiced. Realized half-way through that I hated it but hey, I was half way done so I figured it was better to finish.

I don't do a ton of aviation law mostly when I do its Plane Ownership entity formation and a tad of enforcement work but not near the amount that Mark (Midlifeflyer) does. I posted this as I am considering IATSBA but I already belong to LPBA. You really should consider LPBA, and I think Midlife flyer will back me up on this. It is not like any other bar association and most members don't practice aviation law but they are simply attorneys who are pilots. Probably the least pretentious and friendliest association to which I belong.

Me too. Still getting material for anecdotal references.

Agreed. When I joined, I was in-house with a banking tech company. Closest I got to "Aviation Law" was writing bank loan documentation for the odd aircraft loan.

The group has been made up of three pieces, varying a bit through the years. A piece of the air crash accident bar, a piece combined of specialists and those with more generalized practices with experience in FAA enforcement and aviation transactions, and a piece who are simply lawyer/pilots. It's a great group, I've made good friends from it, and the conferences are a blast and include aviation events along with CLE. Even the spouses enjoy it.
 
My best friend is an attorney. He’s constantly telling my kids, “Please please please don’t become attorneys. Anything but attorneys.” He has his own practice but he hates it.
 
Attorney. Didn’t know about this other aviation group. I may look into it. I guess it depends on what value it will bring to my flying.

I worked in IT for a large law firm for 15 years. I looked behind the curtain, didn't like what I saw.
 
We have one 'attorney turned airline pilot' on this board.
 
When I was selling race fuels I had a customer that raced and was a lawyer. He always said crack heads funded his racing.

I knew another racer that was also an mortician. He was the only racer I knew that had stained glass windows at his race car shop.

You don't want to hear his unofficial slogan....
 
I am a member of the LPBA. I had a chance to spend some time with the president (I think) of LPBA at the SMU aviation law symposium a few years age. Nice guy with a pony tail and had done a fair amount of sky diving matters. I don't know if he's still the president or not.

Some impressive victories. The guy you are referring to is Robert Feldman he was president years ago and does parachute law. They are very tough cases. You should come to the convention in Nashville in March. Mark ( Midlife Flyer here on POA) is presenting one of the CLEs. The CLEs are always good and the people are even better.

You should join the actual organization its well worth it you don't need to practice aviation law and good number of our members don't.

My wife would confirm I'm jealous. I've wanted to do that since I was a kid.
it’s been a great move, and very rewarding so far. I have my apps out for the LCCs, so maybe one will bite soon, but if not, it still beats the alternative.
 
A friend of mine drove a school bus for a couple years in his earlier life.

His favorite line was...''Ok everyone on board, I gotta busta move....
