I'm sitting here watching the embarrassing Cowboy game against the Ravens (sad game for the last game in Texas Stadium :frown3:), and I have a question no one seems to be able to answer for me. Any football fans here??

When NFL network coverage came out of commercial after half time, they had a shot of the Dallas players coming out of the locker room heading to the field. There was a referee at the door patting down some of the players. Now, I can understand why there'd be a cop patting down some of Dallas' players :D:rolleyes:, but does anyone know why the ref would be??

I'm watching too. The only obvious answer is to be sure the player didn't have anything on his person with which he could harm himself.

I wonder why it was only a few select players. Looked like he was looking for specific ones. :dunno:

I joked that it was probably something Jerry asked for to make sure the players didn't carry off part of the locker room....since he's been auctioning the thing off piece by piece for weeks.:D

Wade may be the next piece auctioned off.

I wasn't watching the game (Sat. night? Who knew?) However, it's SOP for refs to do that to ensure that there is nothing in the pads, etc. that can be used as a weapon - a casted hand, a piece of metal in a pad, etc.

In the case of TO, they may be looking for actual weapons. :nono:

I think it was a great game :) Didn't TO use a sharpie to write something on the goal post or something like that ?

He pulled a Sharpie out of his sock to autograph the football he scored with before tossing it into the crowd. In another game, he pulled a cell phone out of the padding around the goal post (he'd stuck it there pre-game -- dunno if he had one at each end) to call mom or someone like that after scoring. I believe each of those stunts cost him like $10K (big bucks for us but "chump change" for him).

I believe the cell phone was Joe Horn when he played with the Saints. But TO was the one that started the over the top celebrations.

As for the original question...equipment check.
