Flying into/out of Dallas on American Eagle?

Now we'll all be looking for an American Eagle FA with a name tag that says Lauren and give her a hard time just for the heck of it. Of course, all of the other Laurens will take a hit too.

:D

Edit. Good luck to her.

Deal - I'll immediately suspend my "be a jerk to FAs" policy.

Joking aside, I have never grasped what people thought they might gain by being unpleasant to the folks who are there to ensure your safety.

Congrats to Lauren, and best wishes for a prosperous and fun-travel-filled future!

She was telling me about her training and a lot of it is similar to military. She already has her uniform and gets her "scarf" this Thursday and gets her wings badge with Mesa Airlines on it when she completes her training flights. She did this to "see the world" but she has been warned by many that she's more likely to see the inside of a hotel room rather than the world, at least at first. Appreciate the kind words. Lauren will be the tall, hot 22 year old.

I'll be her FO very soon :)

Actually no I won't...I'm avoiding Mesa Airlines like the plague! Just kidding! Maybe...

At least it isn't a desk job. Yuck.

This thread is gonna get me banned.... :p

Just kidding Timbeck - that’s very cool. She’ll have fun.

Point of order. No one is ever rude to the HOT flight attendants. [the ones they think are hot anyway, eye of the beholder and all that jazz]

I was going to say you should tell her to stay away from the pilots, they’re a pain, but you’re a pilot and she knows you, so... :)

Interestingly enough Nate, sometimes I wonder just how much Dad factored into her decision to become a FA. She was telling me interesting stuff about the job. For example, they are not allowed to hold a bag for trash for the first class passengers; they must collect it by hand. And if they have to carry a trash bag through first class on the way to coach, they must keep it closed and open it only past the first class section.

1. Ask her to keep a journal or blog, especially with entries of interesting flights and passengers. That might make for some good reading many years down the line.

2. Remind her that if the day ever comes that she is totally fed up with the job and wants to quit on the spot, she needs to top the male FA who opened the galley door, popped the slide, grabbed booze, and slid his way into internet fandom.

3. Tell her she is always welcome to link up with the DFW area PoA gang so the layovers here don't get too dull.

Please be nice to the flight attendants. One of them may be my daughter Lauren who starts next month.

Funny, when I flew for the small airlines in Alaska and jump seated back to Texas every month, I told every lead the same, tired joke.

"Hi, I am your dead beat, I mean dead head, I am terrified of flying, I get airsick really easy, and I have been drinkin' for hours.."

They all laughed, just to appease me I am sure, but I was usually treated well.

No longer jump seating, I tried that with an FA. She looked at me and said, "You don't have to be on the plane, you know".

I said, "Oh my, no longer a captain now so I get treated like crap". She looked at me, then turned around and walked off.:lol::lol:

Friend of mine is a FO on Horizon. I'm going to ask if he's treated that way.

American Eagle can create more ways to **** customers off than any carrier I've ever used. Flight attendants and gate agents get to deal with it.

They enjoy gifts too. May be a little weird from the old farts on here, but I’d do it. It’s a difficult job and they get a lot of unwarranted flack from pax

Why Mesa and a Dallas base? Wouldn't PSA make more sense? Still American Eagle flying, but could be based in CLT or TYS, much closer to home and easier commute?

The taxi time is longer than many flights out of Dallas on American Eagle. It is certainly much longer than the beverage service, if there even is one. Taxi for 45 minutes for a 40 minute flight. Lived that for many years when stationed at Ft Sill, OK and everything went through DFW.

It's also interesting that it's Mesa and Dallas based, when more often I hear "Envoy" originating and terminating at DFW. I do hear Mesa, but not as common as Envoy.

I always thought Mesa was more of a Southwestern based regional (ie., Phoenix) and PSA was East Coast. I don’t think Mesa serves many places that are east of the Mississippi and likewise for PSA. Of course, I have been known to be wrong from time to time, but that’s been my observation.

I've been sentenced to coach more than once.

When they walk down the aisle saying, "Trash, Trash, Trash" my first response is "Who the hell you calling trash you !@#$%$?"

My niece just got on with Mesa. She is based in Phoenix.

Mesa operated out of ATL when I was based there, as Freedom. Regionals move around and changes bases at the whim of their major masters, er, partners.

Congrats! Flying at the regionals was a ton of fun. She's going to have a great time. Probably more than you'd want to hear about it. :D
