The reg number on that Cherokee looked familiar. Sure enough, the 1972 Piper brochure:



It's a '71 by serial number, but the factory painted it in the '72 scheme for the photos, and it has the '72-style dorsal fin and rudder cap. That new cowl design was introduced about mid-way through the '71 model year.
