Hello, I am Jesse nd im 15 I live in Tucson az,I have just finished a discovery flight and I would like to know what to do now, my instructor told me I was really good at flying considering it was my first time.

Coolio! Go schedule your first lesson and let the fun begin!

Download the following two handbooks from https://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/handbooks_manuals/aviation

Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge

Airplane Flying Handbook

Those two books contain a large percentage of what you'll have to learn. You can download them in pdf format for free. They're also available in print for a reasonable price if you prefer studying that way.

This will give you a lot better idea of what you will have to learn and what you will be doing in flight training. It'll either reinforce your desire to learn to fly or, perhaps, show you that it isn't something you want to do (without spending a whole lot of money, first)

Make sure you can get a medical certificate. You you have been on any ADHD medication, be careful. Hopefully at 15, you have had no encounters with the justice system either.

Money, you'll need lots of money ...

Practice for the written exam, if you are a good student you can use the free materials online. Start taking lessons and logging your flight time. Take your time, have fun, and learn.

Welcome! Get a training kit like King Schools or something your instructor suggests so that you can begin studying at home. Schedule a medical exam and have your instructor show you how to apply for the student pilot certificate (no charge from FAA). You instructor can guide you through finding an Aviation Medical Examiner(AME) and completing MedXpress form.

In regards to the medical, if you are taking any prescription medications then you may want to schedule a consultation (not the exam) with the AME to confirm that they are FAA approved.

Lastly, you will need some Ray Bans.

If you have potential medical or legal issues, contact Dr. Bruce Chien at:
http://www.aeromedicaldoc.com/

I believe he participates here. You can post anonymously in the Medical Topics forum by logging out and posting as a Guest.

It works best if you arrange to have your paycheck direct deposited to the flight school’s bank account, then ask the school for a small living allowance.

Sometimes you are allowed to sleep in the FBO and get a snack bar & a coffee ... :)

Make sure you won’t have a problem with obtaining a medical, then start working on the written. Then decide when you want to start flying lessons. Good luck on your endeavors.

Jesse, I recall from an earlier thread a few months ago that you’ve been diagnosed with ADHD. We advised you to contact the forum AMEs and get some advice. Have you done that?

If not handled properly, that diagnosis will wreck your plans. I would not sink any money into flying lessons until the medical situation is handled. You might have to spend thousands of dollars, and many months, just to get a medical certificate.
