My G_d, I had no idea this show was out there until now. Some of the best television I have ever seen, and they killed it after one season.
What a shame - good stuff!

I was majorly in love with Kaylee (the ship's mechanic), and Inara (the high-class "working woman").

A bit off topic, but The Expanse is quite a ride, with one season to go.
We just finished the last episode last night. Recommended. Not perfect, but a lot of decent adventures packaged pretty tightly.A bit off topic, but The Expanse is quite a ride, with one season to go.
What rock have you been hiding under?
Also pretty rad: iPads, electric cars, nintendo wii....
Fox was concerned the two-hour pilot was too talky, and didn't have enough action to keep folks watching. So they aired the second episode ("Train Heist") first. So when it came out iirc they aired the eposodes out of order. Fox seems to kill shows early.

Add another vote for "The Expanse." I especially love the technical accuracy of the show, especially how they simulate the effects of microgravity. It's not perfect, but within technical and budget limitations, it's probably the best that could be done short of filming the episodes on the Vomit Comet.

It also obeyed light speed limitations. Most everything happens within our solar system, and they do pay attention to communication lags. And every space show needs a “Jayne”.
A man walks down the street in that hat, people know he's not afraid of anything.Run this forward to 1:10 for the song itself...

It's on Hulu currently. Believe it was on Amazon last year.I missed Firefly too. What service is it on? Don’t see it on Netflix.
It would have been a lot better without the alien goo stuff. I ended up giving upAdd another vote for "The Expanse."

Kids nowa days....
Lexx seemed to me to be targeted directly at teenage boys.A little known and definitely oddball sci fi series was Lexx. It's available on IMDB TV and Pluto TV.
Firefly was very different. I've never seen another Sci-Fi show with such a strong appeal to woman as Firefly. I think it's Firefly's characters, character development and interactions. Firefly is much more than just Sci-Fi (and a western). It's not about the tech. It's not about space travel.
Ahem, Companion!!I absolutely loved the fact that the only person on the Serenity with an honest job, who wasn't a criminal or being actively hunted by the despotic government was the Prostitute.

I agree with this for sure. My wife loved (loves) Firefly. Any time friends start talking about sci-fi series (Expanse, Dark Matter) she will not shut up until everyone agrees that Firefly was the best sci-fi show ever made and what a travesty it was that it ran only one season and how it's more than just sci-fi how about the plot and storylines and excellent character development and.... omg. Don't get her started.
Sounds like it would be fun to ask your wife which one was the best, listing the aforementioned shows.
