Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg Admits Plans To Censor Anti-Migrant Posts http://www.hngn.com/articles/134765...admits-plans-to-censor-anti-migrant-posts.htm
Plenty more out there, they are so arrogant about manipulating the public they don't even bother to close the curtain anymore.

Based on this excerpt from the article, Zuckerberg may not have any choice:

"Under German law, it is illegal to publicly incite hatred or violence against ethnic or religious groups or to assault their dignity, according to the Daily Dot."

The Germans are generally quite concerned with ever again looking like genocidal maniacs.

They'll take PCness way too far to avoid even a hint of looking like racists or being anti-religion driven.

Whether or not they'll let it destroy their culture, remains to be seen.

I don't think you guys who are cautioning me are wrong but man....

If we really have to be this afraid of the government coming down on us for a silly picture on facebook that's got to be some kind of red flag. That just really isn't something that should happen in a free society. My buzz is now killed. :(

:yeahthat:

I agree you shouldn't do it. It's sad that that is the state of things.

I can't wait until the TSA shows up at my home base and gets upset when I show up to fly armed. As sad as it'll be, it'll be fun.

How much longer until we can convince the public that DHS has outgrown its britches?

Never. Those who understand know it's security theater and really expensive too. And have no ability to staunch the flow of cash into it.

Those that don't know, think government is good or at least always doing benevolent things and won't give up the convenience of pretending they're secure because of DHS.

No. No. No.

I have a friend who's a student working on his PPL at another local field. He is also a photographer and a lifelong plane nut. A few months back, he posted some pics of an Osprey that had lost an engine at my field and was waiting for parts.

I joked with him that I wish I had the time to take him on the field to get closer. He replied with: "oh, you have a badge". I snapped a picture of it. He then joked that he would just print badge up and go on the field.

Joked.

It's an RFID badge which is not going to get him in the gate.

Well, one of his FB friends must know someone at our local Airport Police, because at 9:30am the next morning, I arrive on field to pick up my plane and go out for some solo and I parked outside and made a few phone calls. I noticed that as I was pulling up, a white, unmarked Crown Vic had pulled right up to the gate and parked next to it (on the inside).

Fast forward 15 minutes and I walk into the FBO and was greeted by name by a friendly Senior Officer from our Airport Police Department that removed my badge from my possession and required that I be escorted from now on to the field.

It took me a week to get back, a strongly worded letter, and a very threatening tone that "the TSA has been notified and that I may be financially liable for the reprinting and reissue of approximately 2,000 badges" due to my neglect.

I kindly reminded him that if my friend wanted on the field, he could fire up his plane and fly the 8nm over here and taxi right up to the osprey and not go through the trouble of committing a federal offense. That went over like a lead balloon of course....

Don't poke the bear. Especially if you're based at a Part 139 field.

I take it you took a picture, sent the photo to your friend, and he posted it on FaceBook.

I'm unclear about the first bolded sentence above.

Did you snap a photo of the U.S. military's "secret" Osprey, or your badge?

I assume the Osprey given your comment that your friend could have just flown over and taken it himself. If so, what a crazy response.

If your badge, why in the world would you photograph your badge for anybody?

If security depends solely on the appearance of a printed badge, there is no security in the first place.

To the OP. The less intimidating, snarky pic is the way to go. A 4oz bottle of gel, maybe an open bottle of water, a nail file or nail clippers with the tiny blade in there, utility knife, a lighter, and 2 carry ons! You know... All the real dangerous stuff.

Not solely, but it is one layer.
Absolutely. It's a single layer backed by others. It's not to be relied upon for access control, though. Most places have pictures of their badges published somewhere anyways. Even your SIDA badges appearances are posted online.

I have a sida at two different airports plus a 121 airline ID. Nothing online for me that I can find...

What I will say is that my badge is NOT for the SIDA portion of the field. It is simply a picture, my name, a four digit number and the word Tenant on a white background. The real value is in the embedded RFID chip that opens the gate.

Some won't be as readily available as others, but just Google image search "SIDA badge"

Of course, the only apparent difference between mine and an SIDA Badge is that the SIDA badge says SIDA on it.

The electronics there are the important bit. And for the badges (or components thereof) that may be covered by SSI, SSI is a joke. Think about the number of minimum wage employees that don't give a **** that are given SSI information.

Just tried that. Nothing remotely current or noteworthy. Sorry.

I'd post a picture but that didn't end well for me last time.

I just call it as I see it... The line guys all have SIDA badges....they look a lot like mine.

I have no clue what kind of "badge" you have. Therefor I can't really pass judgement.

Oh agreed, but that's what they're doing.

Various other European countries are similarly suffering an invasion of cultures that don't mesh well with their societies much, also.

The critical deep instinctual one that's going to trigger serious hostilities is the treatment of women. Going to be blood spilled over that one, eventually.

Freakin' horror stories y'all.

facebook is a dangerous mofo, I don't post jack on FB except feel good stuff. Going viral in a bad way is, well, ... bad. Very bad.

Fear God, your wife, and your government.

FB is actively censoring any negative immigration talk in Europe. Not free, not your friend.

There have been some news stories about this. A Brit friend tells me saying anything bad about immigrants is now classified as "hate speech" and can get you some jail time.

What a world.

You know Fb is a private site, right? And in it being private, they can set the rules to be almost anything they want them to be. Sure, you don't pay for it, but that only means that you're the content they're selling to others.

Hey, let's see the picture!

Generally sida badges are different colors so they can be easily recognized as where on the airport they are valid. Different colors mean different access. The phrase "SIDA" on a badge I have never seen.

It's the way it is, and I'm sure you now realize we do not live in a free country.

Unfortunately, for my line of work, a FB page is almost a requirement. But I don't have to like it, and I am VERY careful about what I post. Church and flying, predominantly.

The world is (fast) becoming a terribly weird and stupid place.

Flying pictures is about it for me. No political discussions, no sharing of opinionated news stories, no pictures of me. Just pictures of when I am flying. Most of my Facebook friends seems to like them. It has also. Located the. To actually want to get up in a Cessna and give it a try.

I can assure you with 100% certainty that this is the case at my home field.... All white badges, no security print or anything and the SIDA badges are exactly the same except it says SIDA right on the front

What is your home airport? I didn't even think they issued sida to GA, but I've been wrong before.

KBFL...line guys have SIDA badges--that's where I see them... And my occasional jaunt to NYL on the RJ's when the WX is too hairy for me to go on my own.

Okay... I have been there although not with the airlines. Every airport has different sida protocol. Aparrantly BFL is a bit different than the norm.

^^ This thread turned into who's "papers" we're cooler. Ha. Says something.
