Firearm Safety 101

Oh man... I'm betting he got worse treatment than that. If there's not already, they may never be offspring in their future!

The "revenge," he'll pay for for weeks.

Posting it on the Internet... now *that* is the gift that will just keep on giving and giving and giving!

"But, honey. I did that to teach you a lesson because I love you too much to lose you. It's how you know I care."
- Anger to make-up "session" in 10 minutes.

Yeah, I've never had any luck with that approach... I always get, "No, you're not allowed to touch me now!"

That was funny. Nice 1911.

And I thought I just wasn't smooth enough to pull it off. Just push her buttons and smile until she's really upset then realizes its pointless to get upset at you.

YMMV (Past experience says it only works on certain women).

This guy probably had to sleep on the couch for a couple of nights, but man would that be worth it.

I thought it was a great joke. As for sleeping on the couch....I don't think he was let back in the house!! All I heard was a couple of Ahole comments and the door slamming shut.

And if she had a round in the chamber y'all would be calling him a Darwin candidate.

The only thing that came into my mind while watching the vid was:

He said he told her to not handle the firearm. She did. He pulled a whacky stunt to "teach" her a lesson. So if he couldn't trust her to leave the gun alone how could her trust her to know how to keep it unloaded?

Basically, forget her feelings about his behavior. I'm more concerned about the carnage and missing body parts.

Sorry, once you've witnessed an accident involving firearms you just can't get behind nonsense like this.

Yes, firearms are very serious things and should always be taken seriously. But let's not be so quick to jump all over this one. If you didn't notice, they were in a residential back yard - chances are he didn't even have ammo out there to be loaded into the gun. I'm willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt that he knew no actual danger existed before doing this.

Responses like the last two are exactly the reason why I was hesitant to post this here. They dampen what was otherwise a very funny joke.

For what it's worth, I laughed my backside off! Like you, I assume he was careful not to have ammo she could have gotten hold of. Oh, and I would point out that I'm a South-Texas country boy that grew up with firearms among some of the best hunters and sportsmen in that part of the world. Sure you need to be safe with weapons. You don't have to be morose about them. Well done, PJ. :cheerswine:

I guess Richard and I have seen far too many supposed 'safe and funny' jokes with firearms go wrong and end up with people getting killed.

Sorta like the supposed 'safe and funny' jokes that people pull in airplanes?

funny, but it doesn't matter if there is ammo in the gun, you always treat it like its loaded, even if you know its not.

If I remove the magazine, pull the slide and see an empty chamber, the weapon is empty. It is a piece of steel, just like my hammer. Common sense, gentlemen.

I'm in complete agreement IF those steps have been taken. I will not afford the benefit of the doubt when it comes to firearms.

That alludes to my point in my earlier post in this thread: He couldn't trust her to not handle the weapon. If she was proficient in handling firearms there would not have been the need to warn her. That he did in fact warn her is sufficient proof that she did not possess a famliarity with that gun. THAT is where the potential lies.

Then, he pulls a sneaky wake-up, at which time anything could have happened. Enjoy the stunt.
