Final Arrangements

You see and hear it all, as a pastor.
I had an elderly couple who purchased a plot in a local cemetery, and they used to go there after Sunday service and in good weather they would have a picnic.
When the wife died, 10ish years ago, the husband continued going, every single Sunday, and having a picnic in every kind of weather.
When the husband died, he asked that the kids bring a picnic basket to the internment, and after the ceremony, we all ate lunch.

Personally, I want them to drop me out of the bomb bay of a B-25 into the middle of my home town from about 20,000 ft.
"Local boy makes big splash." works for the headline in the local paper.

I can't tell you how awesome the hospice nurses are.
This. In spades. Comforted my mother and our family.

We started hospice in a traditional hospital, given a very short prognosis. After two-days, was able to transfer to a hospice-only facility; night and day difference.

Got the ‘bounce back’ and a good week of lucid time to celebrate her 84th birthday with cake, family, and an a capella group singing Happy Birthday. Six days later, she went to be with the Lord.

All total, two weeks in hospice; her bounce back was to the point we were counseled that it may not be her time yet and should consider long term technical care.

Roller coaster of emotions for us from a strong, Depression-era woman. Peaceful in the end.
