Think where humanity would be if we had always developed resources to best social benefit, rather than restricting and manipulating them for best profit.
The theory is that entropy increases, but doesn't decrease.

Nineteen trillion in debt, two hundred trillion in derivative unfunded liabilities, a naked short precious metal market, quantitative easing infinitum, ZIRP, money printing, massive health care costs, bankrupt SS, rampant entitlement growth, higher taxes, peak oil, diminishing water, etc., etc. ...
And what most Americans want to know is,
How much are K. West sneakers?
Can one guarantee that some power coup won't develop?
No need to speculate, guaranteed it will happen.
Seen the sociopaths in DC on TV lately? No short supply of them. Thousands and thousands waiting to take the place of any one that falls. Been that way all throughout human history.
That right there is what completely kills your utopian scenarios, since the powerful in politics or finance will always be replaced before nightfall, if they disappear. The really good ones also learn from the last one's mistakes. Yesterday's criminal charges for the last one are today's, "I left those details to my staff".
If they don't like your little commune created energy source, or anything else you built, they'll just fire up some Eminent Domain on your butt, and claim they're better suited to manage it than you are. Maybe even tell everyone that you might have been doing something "dangerous" while they detain you without trial, too.
Most of the gen pop will lap it up. They all already believe in the bigger sociopath's utopia and they've got free candy from a never ending monetary supply. You don't.
The minority have to do fifer something perceived as better for the majority to follow them. If not, they die for their efforts when someone decides they aren't going to put up with that, then the community decides what to do with them. Anarchy is the greatest insurance against tyranny.
Think where humanity would be if we had always developed resources to best social benefit, rather than restricting and manipulating them for best profit.
How can "the community" decide anything where anarchy prevails? Isn't the process of a community deciding something a de facto form of government?
