Falcon Off End Of Runway At Chicago Exec

Is that another 20 or a 2000? I'm thinking 2000

On second look, the 2000s have the APU exhaust straight out the tip of the tailcone.

Says in the article  F20.

Seems like a lotta airplane for organ transport. There are much more efficient and capable ones out there for that.

Kalitta uses them to transport organs/bodies primarily.

And I just listened to the video. A Kalitta bird.

Falcon 20 doesn't seem too out of line to me. But they will use whatever is available. I had done organ transport in the past in King Airs and Lear 35s. I was surprised when we got a trip in the Sovereign since it's much more expensive, but we were apparently the only option at the time.

That overrun pad costs something like 5 mil to fix. Ouch.

If it keeps a plane from crashing at the end and killing everyone, it was worth it.

There was an AD recently to increase the dry bay space in the larger Falcon series aircraft due to the likelihood that high energy stops (like this one) would rupture the fuel tanks near the main landing gear, substantially increasing the risk of fire. About 300 man hours of structural work to install about 6 pounds of metal.

Falcons are very neat airplanes. I like working on them.

A lot of 20s being flown by freight carriers such as Kalitta because they're old and therefore cheap.

Wow, didn't know production on them ended in 1988. There are quite a few of them in military service too.

They just installed those pads in late 2014 too. So pretty new

Google GE CF700 for kicks. Its something you don't see everyday. A lot of Falcon 20s had them.

Normally the fan on a turbo fan engine is in front, not this one.

Glad there were no injuries, someone gut some splainnin to do.

Isn't that the Falcon that Fed Ex began with? Or is there a Falcon 10? Remember seeing a bunch of them at night in MEM when I flew checks.

EMAS (Engineered Materials Arrester System) good stuff! Remember the CRJ at CRW years ago that ended up in the EMAS? That airport is on top of a couple shaved mountains and without the EMAS they would've gone 4 wheeling, or is it 6 wheeling....

Hmm. That's something I've never seen before.
