There are 8 bills on the President's desk including the FAA funding awaiting his signature. If the Ol Pres is too busy playing golf to sign them, what will happen at midnight when the FAA funding runs out? Will all the centers shut down? " American 1234 we're shutting down now, continue on your own. Have a nice flight, good evening.":(

Since tomorrow is not a business day would it be a good day to bust Class B ?:D

Just wondering---

ATC, as an essential service, is exempt from the anti-deficiency act. Just as with complete government shutdowns, they keep operating.
Of course, the guys who file enforcement actions for your class B busts will be furloughed, but the paperwork will just pile up on their desk until they return.

Yeah... "Complete" means 27% of the government. The bureaucrats still work, and those that serve the public get a paid vacation.

President signed it.

This space intentionally left blank for future sarcasm.

The clock starts for it to be put in regulation form ,by the FAA

The Spin Zone is gone. So, since we have no place for polemics, perhaps you should acknowledge that the President did his job today.

Yes, though he'll need to work weekends to catch up. . .

Just remember if you let your medical lapse awhile back figuring this bill would give you flight without a medical, that it has to be less than ten years since your last medical. It might be that long before the regulations are finalized.
The FAA motto is, "We shall enact no change before it's time (has come and gone)"

Anyhow, after he got back from golfing and before he showered, he put his sweaty signature on the bill.

The ten year look back is from July 15, 2016 regardless of how long the FAA takes. So, anyone with a medical which expired July 16, 2006 or later is good. So, this bill did not even exist back then for someone to consider waiting.

Even if the FAA totally ignores it, after one year, they cannot take enforcement action. I'm sure AOPA/EAA will ensure availability of a doctor checklist and online training so the required "good faith effort" mentioned in the law can be met should the FAA foot drag.
