FAA Administrator - who ya want?

Huerta's still got another year.

Hoot Gibson died two years ago. I doubt he's in the running. I don't know where he'll be when that day comes, but he won't smell too good, that's for sure.
 
Harrison Ford. Sorry, the only famous pilot that I know. Or John Travolta. But they both already have jobs, if you want to call it that.
 
I guess you have to explain which "Hoot" you meant. I thought you were talking about Harvey Hoot Gibson (of the 727 barrel roll fame).

Again, I was thinking of one of the other Hoot Gibsons. HG Hoot Gibson was who I was thinking about, not Robert Hoot Gibson. Amusingly a google search shows there are at least a half a dozen other Hoot Gibsons. Only three were pilots. I suspect they all are homage to the rodeo cowboy and actor Edmund Richard "Hoot" Gibson, who predates the rest by a substantial margin.

One is famous. The other…..well, infamous is more like it.
 
It's too bad Buddy Hackett is no longer with us. Based on Betsy Devos' experience in education, he'd fly right through confirmation hearings like flying through a billboard….

The question was who you want, not whether or not that person could be confirmed based on political leanings (yours or the current administration's).

We've been getting a lot of threads that have legitimate aviation content but are getting locked due to political drift. Let's please keep it on the policies, impacts, and people, not politics.

I'd also like to see a criminal level of burden of proof for the FAA to mess with people, innocent until proven guilty, not the other way around.

Flying, like driving is a privilege granted by your gov't. They feel compelled to treat you like the child you are and send you to your room without dinner when you misbehave.
I'd be happy with anyone who could reduce the overall cost. Better electronics without all the bs a manufacturer with a better mousetrap has to go through. Make the basic equipment list for vfr and ifr and let me augment it as desired.
 
Yea and no, I mean we also have the freedom to move about the country, but for some reason it because a privalge with cars at some point in history.

Just like walking, you can't go ramming into people and trespassing without consequences, and having some regulators and regulations is a good thing, but we give the FAA far to much power, when they can go after a working pilot for whatever reason, say he was reckless (their catch all) and he has to prove he wasn't, and strip the person of their livelihood, it just makes the whole thing into a joke. Luckily I've had a good shake with the feds, but many others haven't, it should be their burden of proof if they want to pick a fight, if it's a legit problem they shouldn't have a issue proving it to a jury of peers.

PBOR and PBOR II have fixed much of that. Mostly thanks to Senator Inhofe.

I'm not sure if politicians necessarily make good agency heads. Many times they are lawyers. I like people with management experience.
 
A seasoned chief pilot would be a good call, but would like FAA violations to be tried to the same burden of proof as criminal stuff, I mean a 15yrold kid gets busted with pot he get a jury, the Feds target my livelihood and it's really judge jury and axeman
