FAA Administrator Stepping Down

Sad. Whitaker did a lot to hold Boeing to account, and was making steps toward improving safety and cutting some of the bureaucratic red tape. It would have been nice to see where things might have gone had Whitaker stayed at the helm for five years. The ATC mishaps on his watch were not due to his policies so much as understaffed, underfunded, and probably undertrained controllers.

As a statement of fact and not a political comment: the Predident-elect seriously considered his personal pilot for the role of FAA director before settling on a former Delta exec the first time around. It will be interesting, given his ties to Musk, to see who he attempts to place as Whitaker's successor.

Yeah, on that note, I don't think Whitaker is stepping down so much as he is leaving before he gets fired.

It will be interesting to see how Trump and his appointees change the FAA. Its probably just a different letterhead, but who knows. Cautiously optimistic.

To many people guessing on what’s going to happen, might be nice to see who his appointee is before passing judgement.

Ufo shenanigans in the news might shake things up with the FAA too.

I would demand free ice cream at every fbo……for low wing pilots only, of course.
Ok… I was wrong…. Not the first time!

Nevermind the Cessna, I got access to a rv-4…

So....where do you suppose this pilot worked prior to flying Trump's 767?...it hasta be one of the major airlines. I bet he'd do a much better job than any of the aviation execs.

That’s what dickson was… not terribly impressive.

Would be easy to get a guy you liked typed in a 75 with no prior major airline experience. Heck of a lot easier to fly than any business jet I’ve fiddled in.

Yes, thank you. I searched the forum and there were hits for "Mike Whitaker" under the medical subforum but from over a year ago, so figured this was a new post and correctly categorized.
