Curious what everyone is using for a electronic logbook. Please tell me the pros & cons of the one you are using and how much it costs you if its a subscription or a one time purchase price. I just started my first 135 gig a few months ago & decided it was time to move up to an electronic logbook before my time gets carried away. Thanks!
 
Many use MyFlightBook, whose developer is a member here. It's free. You can use it from the web or an app on your iPhone or iPad. There are fields for every conceivable type of flight time and flight-related information (e.g. separate fields for power line patrol and pipeline patrol), it keeps track of your currency (I'm 2 night landings short and coming up on my tailwheel currency right now), and it will spit out the numbers you need to fill in an 8710 with one click. It has many other features, too.
 
Foreflight has one with customizable fields. They also store your information for you so you don't have to worry about losing it.
 
MyFlightBook is a cloud based logbook with access from both mobile apps (I use iOS either on my phone or my iPad) and the web. It has nicely formatted spreadsheet .csv file import/export so you're not locked into their storage. If you want something integrated into your flight planner, then it's probably not for you. But if you don't care, I highly recommend it.
 
I'm using LogTen Pro. Great program, but it's now subscription based. Fortunately, I got grandfathered in so I don't have to pay a subscription. Otherwise, I'd come up with some other solution. I don't like renting software.
 
Custom excel sheet in Googlesheets.

It's free, acesss from any device, cloud based, plus it auto downloads local copies, I also store my scanned old paper log book, certs, all the planes logs and receipts, etc and Google probably will be around longer than all these online aviation companies.

I have an Excel spreadsheet that I have modified for this purpose. It is resident on all my computers. No way would I put that, or much of anything else in the "cloud" out of my control. Enough stuff gets there as it is.
 
My flight book ,and you can always send a donation or two,to help support the app.

Check google sheets out, totally in your control, just better access and more layers of redundancy, mines set to auto download a local copy after I make a change change, that's fully downloaded onto my laptop, desktop, iPad and iPhone.
 
FlightLog - It's free, it's easy, it runs on all my Android devices, I can back it up and restore it to DropBox, Google Drive, etc,etc.
It also allows you to create your own fields.
 
MS Excel. I've set up all sorts of currency alerts, hourly thresholds, expenses...

Are you grandfathered in to LogTen Pro X or are you, like me, holding on to the old 32 bit app, LogTen Pro, which won't work if you allow your iPad/phone to update to IOS 11?

I used to keep the iPad version as well, until they started the subscription crap.
 
I had been using a custom Excel spreadsheet that I received from a corporate guy I met. It does all sorts of neat things such as totaling types, tail numbers, etc. Based on the feedback on this post I went to myflightbook to try it out. It was super easy to convert my existing Excel sheet into their site. I am impressed and may change over to myflightbook for all of my flight tracking.
 
I use MyFlightBook and also handwrite it. MFB makes it easy to see totals for whatever you like, but there is something about that green paper and having to add up totals and start a new page.

Ditto, I find it works very well for me.

Only uncertainty is with respect to sign offs, which I've handled so far by taking pictures of the signed paperwork.

Someone said it! I've always thought that but never mentioned it. :) I use the ForeFlight logbook and the green paper as a backup.

Same here, photo then I upload it into the row and fill in the dates and times
 
I use Logten Pro X ive been using it since the early days and have always loved it. If you use a mac I would highly recommend it. Great customizable field, easy to get reports and keep up with currency. It is now a subscription based service, i pay a discounted price as part of the early adopter thing, and i think its well worth what i pay, I'm not sure what the current subscription is.

Ive used it through my flight training training, flight instructing, and now my second airline job, it's been very easy to import schedules and to keep track of duty limits, flight time etc.

MyFlightBook, plus a couple different Excel spreadsheets plus a paper log. And I paranoid? Maybe, but each has its purpose.
 
haven't keep a logbook for over 12 years I track currency (approaches night imc etc.) on the company flight log but no totals
 
Foreflight logbook for the past year. I use it to keep endorsements etc and of course have photo backups of paper endorsements. Easy reports, currency status, custom fields and can export data easily. Don't miss the paper logbook at all
 
I like foreflight logbook as well. I keep a paper back up but having it organized, digital, and not chicken scratch makes my OCD happy. The print report function is pretty neat too.
 
Against my better judgement I was considering buying LogTen Pro X for a year because I have the new phone which uses iOS 11 and doesn't allow the old 32 bit version, mostly because I don't have time to deal with transcoding the data. For some reason I'm seeing LogTen Pro "Centurion," instead of "X" on the app store now. Most of the support documents refer to "Logan Pro X," though. Does anyone know if Noah has built a new app, he's trying to outrun his negative iTunes reviews, or what is different?

Centurion came out a while ago. Still doing the subscription thing. Can't tell you anything else about it since I'm still using X.

I'm guessing that he would do better by selling apps outright to students (which come and go) rather than shaking down long term users for annual subscriptions.
