E model crank in O-540B?

I am interested in an airplane with a Lyc O-540 B engine. The bird suffered a prop strike and the engine was torn down and rebuilt with an E model crankshaft. Is anyone aware of an STC or similar legal means for putting an E model Crank in a B model O-540?
Certified engine on a certified airplane.

With out part numbers can't really help. Was the engine rebuilt by Lycoming? Or was it overhauled by an external shop or mechanic?

Not Lyc. Not sure if it was a Shop or individual Mech.
