Good Afternoon,

I am 24 years old. I am currently working on my PPL with low hours so far. I am concerned about obtaining a third class medical. I had a DUI in late May of 2021. I blew a .12, careless driving, speeding, and possession of fake id. I used to take adderall which I stopped taking later that year 2021. I currently work a corporate job which I have been working for the past 2 and a half years. Have not gotten a new prescription since late 2021.

I have had no incidents since then and have a clean record. The dui was expunged.

What should I expect going forward. Should I wait to consult with an AME. The arrest report also mentions that I take adderall but did not take it the day of the arrest.

Any inquiries are much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

ADHD:
WAIT until it has been actualy 4 years+ 1 month form your last filled prescription.
OBTAIN all your records, pscyh evals, 10 year phamacy dispense report (from teh coprporate home office (not the retail Rx store), section 405 records.
Do the ADD.Fast Track- get to a community phD. Psychologist, get his report.

DUI:
OBTAIN your arrest report so you can Prove your BAC
Obtain your lifelong DMV record to prove it's your one-and-only
AME will ask for a written personal statement.

This could potentially be issued in the office.

Thank you so much, what should I expect in the personal statement. Anything to avoid?

I can't provide that sort of detail - that's part of the heart and soul of what I actaully do........
No worries, the dui was four years ago. Won’t this automatically send the request to the FAA for further investigation? I have heard backlogs in OKC quite large.

Could be wrong this is just my understanding now.

The FAA will twist what you put in that letter.

I was there once (hence anon post), I spoke with a lawyer versed in these things due to a recommendation from a coworker.

I was honest, I am a once a month type social drinker, have one or two beers and I’m done, it was a dumb mistake after going to a scotch distillery tasting with friends, as I never drank hard booze before.

He said though in the real world that is a no factor, the FAA is going to make their own story up and draw their own misguided conclusions, he ended up writing the letter for me and it turned out fine.

I would HIGHLY recommend having a FAA versed lawyer write that.
The FAA does not have a heart, soul, honor, they are administrative in the worst sense, learn that now or later

It took me 9 months to hear anything from OKC.
