I'm registered for both. Last XC trip I had a long wait for a telephone briefer and he had the nerve to have an attitude with me and question the quality of my training because I didn't know where a certain airport was. Well, nevertheless, I still prefer talking to a briefer but I'd like to start doing my own electronic briefings (at least prior to calling FSS).

DUAT and DUATS are a little different. Which do you prefer? Does one have features the other doesn't?

ForeFlight integration tipped the scales to DUATS for me. I've been filing my SFRA flight plans that way lately.

I used to prefer DUATS. Then when FlightPrep started its patent-bullying silliness, I switched to the one that wasn't associated with them. Haven't used it since.

It's a shame Foreflight doesn't give me a choice, but when I have one...

I have used the AOPA flight planner. But, it seems each time, the briefer often doesn't get any or all of the information filed, and I have to repeat the stuff over the phone or radio. So, I am thinking about switching to another method.

I use DUAT because that is the first one I tried and since I fly under the no-medical, low life, baby eating, Light Sport scumbag rules, it's a bit more effort to get signed up for either.

But I often use runwayfinder.com and/or navmonster.com if I am actually going to fly from point A to point B before I get the "official" briefing at DUAT. (DUAT always gives me some stupid NOTAMS about stinking Toronto. Sheesh - I can't get within a 100 miles of Toronto - why would I care???)

That new DUATS site is pretty good!

If they had a function that showed you what routing others were getting (like FLTPLAN), it'd be the Bee's Knees!

I just submitted a feature request to them. I don't know if this is accurate, but it looks like that was only the 48th request so far! I have to say that since it is an official weather provider, I have gotten to where I use this and the actual call center as my two primary sources of weather information. And I call the WX folks enough that a few of the Fort Worth specialists recognize me when I call in.

Hey, I got a fast reply from them too! The reply stated that they have a request in to the FAA to be given access to the feed that would give them that same information and be integrated into the site. They're just not sure how long the process will take.

I use DUAT because of their very cool iPhone app.

Now if either provider could set up a "cancel/close IFR Flight Plan", that would be too cool (I know they'll do a VFR FP, but that doesn't help).

I started with DUATS and have (mostly) stuck with them. Back when 1200 baud was common and 9600 new. They used to be GTE. I think I still have my original "membership" card.
I got signed up with DUAT at the AOPA convention in Philadelphia few years ago.
It's all what you're used to.
