Does your aircraft have a story?

It's a '75 arrow. I think we have a a copy of the brochure in the hangar or something.

That doesn't look totaled to my amateur eyes, especially not in that day.

You certainly could be right. I really don't know enough to tell one way or the other. Perhaps the story is true.

The first owner of mine was a major-league baseball player. It was the last year of his 14-season career, with 97 career home runs.

In that last season he recorded just 6 hits in 51 at-bats for a .118 average. So he bought an airplane. Took good care of it, too.

But, is it recorded anywhere? :)

I finally got my domain name. http://n194sp.aero is all mine. No stories there yet, just me futzing about with BS about how I picked the plane. Boring stuff for now until I get more into it.

Also, the website is, in part, to give my renters some history in the aircraft and get the sort of details about the thing that most renters don't actually get. I'm going get a sticker with the website on it and stick it in the plane. I'm sure most won't care, but a few might. Gives them a chance to feed stuff back to me, too.

Mine is a certified aircraft bought from Bede Corp....

No its this one. They've kept the original paint scheme. Maybe it was a '76 model, but was built in '75. I forget exactly.

It is a '75 model by serial number, but it was painted in the 1976 scheme for the ads. Here it is in the two-page Piper ad in the 1976 Flying Annual.

I've flown a few brochure and magazine airplanes. I got my AMEL in this Apache:

Yankee serial no. 7, the first one on the west coast, was on our flight school's line for a while, and one of my primary students bought it.

The '84 brochure Turbo Arrow (actually an '83 model, the first to be painted with the '84 scheme) was on a rental line at KVNY in the early '90s. I put about 150 hours on it. It's registered in Canada now.

This Saratoga was one of our favorite rentals for family trips. It's been exported to Australia.

This Warrior was another rental at KVNY. It later went to the midwest, where it was involved in an apparent suicide crash.

No just a Piper Arrow...

Oh, heh, on re-reading my post, it reads different than what I intended. Damn, that's the second time today I writing that. I really need to proof-read my posts better.
