Disney movie "Panes"

 A Pink Twin V-Tail named Rochelle?? Somebody read Beechtalk.

Look at the contrails :)

When you start to notice that the hills and clouds are often plane shaped you may have been watching the videos too much!

I thought this was about Windows 8 or something. ;)

There is a Pixar short in the Mater's Tall Tales series that is a good teaser for what Planes will be like...it's promising.

still better graphics than flight simulator

I am so taking the kids to this one. Our little guy loved Cars with a passion when he was 1-2 years old. He's 6 now and hope he falls in love with this one more than Cars. :D

Yeah, my kid enjoyed Cars, as did I. Hopefully he'll go to this one with me...but he's 20 now!! :D

6...20...what's the difference when you're talking about frickin' airplanes!? :D

I'll be like a kid again watching it, I think. I enjoyed just watching the trailers.

Any mods available to fix the original thread title? Thanks!

Yeah, that could be done, I suppose, but it won't change all the subsequent posts. Best to leave it alone. Adds character to the thread.:D

The animation looks phenomenal. The storytelling, not so much. Disney has beaten that story line into the next dimension, over decades.

So, as a former graphics guy, you can bet I'll see it. But I'll expect more Cars 2 than Cars. And the aviation mini-buff will be there as well.

We'll have three of the grandchildren when this releases and we are all going.
Of course that means we have to buy all the toys, books, video games, stuffed dolls and comics, should they be available...

This was originally supposed to be a straight to DVD movie, but Disney liked it so much they gave it a theatrical release.

My granddaughter is just 3 weeks old, so going to the theater with her is out. But since her name is Piper, i will certainly buy a copy of the DVD for her when it is released. I love Disney & Pixar animation and will look forward to seeing it myself. I really appreciate the work and talent that goes into producing animation of this quality. With it being about planes...all the better.

Is a pink airplane named Rochelle any different than a lovely beige one named Charlene? :dunno::D:D

Way to stimulate the economy FC!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

We appreciate you doing your part! :)

To me, Ned and Zed look like RVs. They probably could be a few different FG, single seaters. But, hell, they are experimental so I am going with RV4 with cockpit mod :)

I was leaning more towards the purpose built racers like midget mustangs, as the resemblance to an RV4 ends at low wing single engine fixed conventional gear

I'd say Ned & Zed fall into the category of your standard Formula One racer- mid wing design, spring steel gear and 0-200 on steroids. Leadbottom is a nice caricature of a Stearman.

Allegedly Disney has bought or contracted with someone to paint a couple of Air Tractor AT503's in Movie colors for promotion purposes. Should be interesting to see.

A FB friend was working with them to provide sound clips of her plane for the movie.

And it will be debuted at OSH a week before the theatrical release!

I've never been more interested in seeing an animated movie since I saw the trailer for this!

My wife and I watched Cars alone without grandchildren. It was one of the most enjoyable movies I have ever seen. We'd traveled old Route 66 several times, and we recognized scenes in the movie that are along that route. I understand that the producer loaded the animators and story writers in a couple of Caddy convertibles and hauled them along the desert southwest route through CA, AZ, and NM.

I hope p[l]anes is as enjoyable.

The trailer shows some Rutan Pusher Canard, too.

"Planes" is going to get kids to the airport! WOOT!

With those eyes stuck to the cockpit it can count as simulated IFR time.

A lot of those decals can be made see through.

Lots of holes in the decal, dark-to-black colored on the backside, and the bright and garish outside gives the illusion of a solid sheet.

You see them a lot on cars that are turned into rolling billboards. They actually let a lot of light in, and from the outside, it's hard to notice the holes unless you're close.

I say we all get the eyes decals and set up every plane on the ramp with them.
