Denver/CO area AME for transplant SI's?

My story: I've had 2 kidney transplants (one when I was 22, another when I was 31, I'm now 34). Other than pre-diabetes as a side effect of the transplant drugs (and well-treated with oral meds), I'm actually super healthy and active, in shape, etc.

I'm a 130 hour Sport pilot and wanting to move on up to faster, higher, cheaper (funny how that works; LSAs around here cost 20-30% more to rent than a 172/Cherokee), cloud-ier flying but am terrified of losing my Sport privileges with a botched SI process.

People (CFIs and others who are not AME nor experts on the process) have told me that it *should* be pretty easy to get an SI with an annual recertification. That being said, I'm on the cautious side and want to make sure I go to an AME that knows their stuff and has done a few similar SI's. The two docs that I've seen doing searches in this forum are both no goes: Dr. Paddock in Fort Collins has retired, and Dr. Sancetta in Boulder is "booked solid and not taking any new SI patients at this time."

Does anyone here know of any AMEs in the Denver Front Range area they can recommend for this kind of thing? And, has anyone here (Denver or otherwise) had experience getting an SI for organ transplant?

thanks!

my doc is a "difficult cases" specialist, but can't say he knows transplants ... a lot of airline pilots with SIs go to him.

Don't worry about a local AME yet. Contact Bruce Chien, he specializes in difficult issues. He can tell you what need to be done, what paperwork, and possibilities. Then you can contact the local AME.

Thanks for the tip. I've read on here that Dr Bruce is somewhat of a miracle worker but not wanting to take a trip to Peoria I hadn't thought to contact him. Looks from his website he's willing to do some remote consultation.

Doc Bruce is one of the good guys. Heed his advise.
