Ack...city life
Friday evening the mail contained the anticipated package. Alright, Ken! Ken Ibold's new book had arrived just in time for a weekend read. How did he get it in the mail so quickly?

I eagerly tore into the manila package and sat down to thumb through the pages. I stopped after only 5 or six stories. One could easily read this book in one sitting yet I suggest to do so is like gulping one's food. One should consider the time to properly digest the morsels of truth and lessons learned. Contained in this small book is a full cornicupia of the experience of aviating. It would be gluttony to finish the book so quickly. And perhaps, the lessons would be left unlearned.

The witticisms are plentiful and may have you howl or ache in bitter laughter (depending upon how akin your personal experience is). Each truth is wrapped in humor as like a filet mignon wrapped in bacon. Each is the perfect bite and is best savored rather than be swallowed too soon. (Ok, so I'm not a writer. But I try.)

Already is this book promised a front position in my aviation library. Often I will revisit this book to refresh my taste of the truth and lessons learned (or to be relearned).

Only several times have I gotten the ear of a high time professional pilot. Ken's book reminds me of the limitless value of the truth such a pilot doth impart.:thumbsup:

So, Ken's book is going to send my scrambling for the nearest bathroom within 20 minutes where I spend the next 4 hours sick? That's not a very nice thing to say about his book. :incazzato:

Well, you're the one who said it.

:)

Wow. Thanks, Richard

Edit: My wife says: "With that endorsement, raise the price!"

What, and spoil all the fun?

Still eagerly awaiting delivery of my copy!
The pony express out here must be faster than back east. I also have received my copy. I'm looking forward to reading it!

I can't wait till mine gets here. Guess I'll have to defy (defly ;)) gravity until it arrives.

Pony Express came through today! I finally had time this evening to sit down and thumb through the book (which has a nice lay-out, BTW). I was tempted to guzzle it, but then realized it needed to be savored slowly, like my sipping sherry, to be appreciated, and to get the full flavor. :cheerswine:

After reading the prologue and the first essay, I feel like I'm reading something that is written by someone who can teach me something about aviation and safety. :)

I very much appreciate being mentioned in the acknowledgments. What an honor! (I don't recall doing anything to deserve that honor). Thank you, Ken. :)

I looked for the Gaston's story, to see if it was there, and sure enough, it was there. That was a good learning experience for me. I should have been more assertive that day and will be more so if the situation should arise again. :)

BTW, the short essays are really quite handy for those of us with a short little span of attention.

I'm looking forward to curling up with the book tomorrow. It will be a rainy day tomorrow...a perfect day to read a good book. :)

I'm slow, and only got my check out today. Looking forward to getting and reading it!

Thanks again, Ken. Like Diana said, I too like the short essays. I haven't had the time yet to really get into it, but it's been really nice to be able to pick it up, then flip to a random page, and read a story.

Good work.

Tom and I are both enjoying reading it, in spurts (life and sick cat are getting in the way of our reading time). We're going to need to order several copies to give people as presents.

Tom noticed on the last page that it will be available as an audio digital download! How neat! I checked it out and guess it's not quite ready yet. Ken, will you be the narrator on the audio version?

The audio version is still in the works. No, I will not be the narrator. Still trying to pick one.

Okay, I got it this evening, about 90 minutes ago. I've already finished Part One (about 90 pages). I love it!

And I really enjoyed reading "Two Pilots, No Captain." I start by thinking "that airport seems familiar", going to "I wonder if DR is in the front seat", to "I remember that incident!"

Looking forward to being able to use the code to listen to the audio, so I can put it on my Droid for the trip to/from work.

Don't be offended, Ken, but I think that after Leslie and I have finished reading it, we may keep it in the washroom. The short vignettes are the perfect length for those contemplative interludes! :)

I see that the book is available on Amazon now.

Tom and I are still enjoying reading this book. :) Problem is, we both drag it around (house, car, hangar) and leave it places and then the other spousal unit can't find it when they want to read it.

So far, I have come across many, many passages, phrases, and situations in the book that definitely strike a chord.
