Time to fly!
Landed in Toronto a couple hours ago. The temp is -10 C with a 25k wind out of the north. Glad I packed my extreme gear hunting clothes!:yikes:

It's not going to be much better here for the next few days:

Monday: A chance of freezing rain before noon, then a chance of rain or freezing rain. Cloudy, with a high near 34. East southeast wind between 7 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Monday Night: Snow. Low around 24. Windy, with a northeast wind 6 to 9 mph increasing to between 19 and 22 mph. Winds could gust as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.

Tuesday: Snow, mainly before noon. Temperature falling to around 18 by 5pm. Wind chill values as low as zero. Windy, with a north wind between 23 and 25 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Welcome to Iowa winter. At least I have Jeep to play in it with. :)

It is like it is February already and it is setting up to be another winter with defrosts. I do not mind some snow and cold, but give me a day or two at 40 degrees once in a while. Last year we had not mid-winter thaws at all.

We just got back from flying the 'Coupe -- first time in "real" cold weather. (14 F, 12 knot wind) It was great -- although the Ercoupe heater ain't much to write home about.

The performance is wonderful, though. Sure beats climbing out at 200 fpm in July!

More snow and cold on the way. Dang, it looks like another early and brutally cold winter -- just where IS this "global warming", anyway???

:D

I guess I won't feel bad about not buying carbon offsets for the new snowblower I bought last year! I was sure I'd stave off any chances of new snow by plunking down the $$ last February, but I've already run it a bunch of times...:mad3:

Not too terrible after today until Thursday. I'm not a fan of cold wx and I'll be back up here the first of January yet again. :nono:

I agree, its ugly out! I had to wear a light sweatshirt when I hiked the mountain yesterday. Today I was able to shirtsleeve it at the airport.

Sorry to be cruel. I paid my dues however!

True enough. But your penance is -- you're living in West Texas!

<ducking!>

The cool thing is, most visitors can't wait to leave so we get the place to ourselves. And it sure grows on ya!

It's tough here too, especially Wednesday:

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 41. North wind between 6 and 10 mph.

Tuesday: A slight chance of rain after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 62. South wind between 9 and 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday Night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. South wind around 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Wednesday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Cloudy and breezy, with a high near 68. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

I don't know why anyone would want to be here and not under Maine's 179' of snow!

Ooh boy, I get Tulsa this week (yuck) , but Ontario (California) (aaaahhhhh) next week. Hopefully the last two trips this year....

Man, I envy you guys in the cold.

I'd tell you to "go away", but you already did!

I think I wouldn't mind it! I came here from Tokyo, where it was in the high 50's and early October-ish weather. Just perfect. When I cleared Customs, and walked out with my driver, I was instantly soaked in sweat. My driver had the temerity to say "This is the COLD season!"

Cheers,

-Andrew

What a bunch of WUSSIES!

You know, some of us LIVE for this kind of weather! After all, it's really hard to ski when it doesn't get like the weather you are all hiding from on a regular basis. And while you are all hiding from it, I'm out PLAYING in it! lol

0 - 10 F is not uncommon here just about every morning, while -10, -20 and even -30 is not unknown... and that's BEFORE the windchill factor!

By the way, the skiing was awesome today!

;)

I. DON'T. SKI! :nono::rofl:

Heh I remember skiing un Lutsen, MN on the shores of lake Superior north of Duluth. -10F without the windchill is kinda chilly for skiing, but the snow was phenomenal :-)

Yeahbut, up there in the mountains, the air is so thin that it doesn't feel quite as cold. I've been skiing in Breckenridge when it's ~20*F and I was shedding layers down to a sweatshirt and layered wind-suit pants (I still don't own 'ski' pants).

Down here in the flatlands, the wind blows nearly 200mph (no trees to slow it down) and any skin that is visible will make your whole body miserable.

I will pass this along to my sister-in-law who is down here visiting from Anchorage until after New Year's. She will be sad to know she is missing so much fun. :nono:

well at least you dont have to worry about the wind chill richard

I agree with Dave, it is ugly outside. Had to wear gloves this morning during my 6am bike ride!
