I think AOPA magazine had a story about an operation like this a couple years ago. The trees are bundled, he'll drop down and swing the end of the cable right next to a ground crew member who clips the bundle onto the cable. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Yeah the trees are cut, wrapped and then bundled together. A guy on the ground takes the aircraft's sling and hooks it to the load.

While this guy makes it look easy, three years (14 Nov 2011) after this video was taken they lost a B206 and seriously injured a pilot doing this type of work. The pilots sling got snagged on something on the ground and brought the aircraft down. Not sure if it was the same pilot and the same aircraft as in this video though.
