Daley selling MDW. 2 airports down, 1 to go

Had an interesting "fact" in the article:
Well over 50 airports in Europe are privately run, but there is only one in the United States: in Newberry, N.Y.

It will be fun to watch to see what Duh Mare puts into the deal so he still has control over the jobs and the contracts. There's no way he'd give that up, not even for $3,000,000,000, in which he also has to have some benefits.

Many have wanted to put Hartsfield into a private contract. A couple administrations ago, they were offered a minimum of $3 Billion, sight-unseen, for a first-year contract. But, Delta and the Atlanta City Council would never go for it.

Ya can't contract concession stands to your political buddies if you don't have control of the airport. BTW, as of early 2007 the current mayor's ex-husband is behind on his concession rental by over a million bucks and the state just shut him down being behind on taxes.

I wonder what deals Daly might have in place at MDW?

Old news in Chicago. The pols/buddies that had/have "minority" deals at O'Hare and Midway are legend. Just say da wife is running the company.

Of course, Jesse (King of Beers) Jackson, Jr has little room to complain.

Had an interesting "fact" in the article:

I believe that is Stewart International KSWF in Newburgh New York. And it is no longer privately owned. From Wiki:
At the end of the 20th century it became the first U.S. commercial airport to be privatized when United Kingdom-based National Express Group was awarded a 99-year lease on the airport. It recently postponed plans to change the facility's name after considerable local opposition, and then announced plans to sell its rights to the airport. On January 25, 2007, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey board voted to acquire the remaining 93 years of the lease, effectively ending the privatization experiment. It took over control of the airport on November 1 of that year.

Nice little airport. I was just through there the beginning of January. Looks like it is a major hub for cadets at West Point, too.

Had an interesting "fact" in the article:
The airport I base at, 10C, is privately run. It is in America, I just had no idea it was in NJ!! I know I had to drive a bit form house, but did I realize that I was passing through a quantum tunnel along the way and ending up on the east coast.

That was the gist of my using quotes! Clow used to be privately owned and run, too!

Hooks Airport, KDWH, is also privately owned and operated, I believe. They probably meant privately-run, airline-served airports.
