Well over 50 airports in Europe are privately run, but there is only one in the United States: in Newberry, N.Y.
...
Ya can't contract concession stands to your political buddies if you don't have control of the airport. ...
I wonder what deals Daly might have in place at MDW?
Had an interesting "fact" in the article:
At the end of the 20th century it became the first U.S. commercial airport to be privatized when United Kingdom-based National Express Group was awarded a 99-year lease on the airport. It recently postponed plans to change the facility's name after considerable local opposition, and then announced plans to sell its rights to the airport. On January 25, 2007, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey board voted to acquire the remaining 93 years of the lease, effectively ending the privatization experiment. It took over control of the airport on November 1 of that year.
I believe that is Stewart International KSWF in Newburgh New York. And it is no longer privately owned. From Wiki:

The airport I base at, 10C, is privately run. It is in America, I just had no idea it was in NJ!! I know I had to drive a bit form house, but did I realize that I was passing through a quantum tunnel along the way and ending up on the east coast.Had an interesting "fact" in the article:

Hooks Airport, KDWH, is also privately owned and operated, I believe. They probably meant privately-run, airline-served airports.
