Daily Pic

Not a photo, but plot of yesterday's flight to Big Bear. On the way up there it's a 23-minute flight, with 10 minutes of climb from 1440' to 9500', then down to Big Bear's runway at 6752'. On the way back (shown), we took a left over the dam and flew down the canyon. Wheeeee! :D Did a glide test too at idle...560 fpm descent at 80 KIAS, which works out to 9.3:1 glide ratio. Forgot to check true airspeed, which would've given a better indication.

The airport restaurant is great, but we wanted to try something different this time. Can highly recommend Thelma's, about a quarter mile walk from the terminal.

Neat. How'd you generate that?

Thanks! It's generated by the Foreflight software. My flying buddy sent it to me afterward.

I gave him a ride maybe six months ago, and he was inspired enough to take out a loan, sign up with ATP at Long Beach and is well on his way to becoming a commercial pilot. He is set to solo in about three weeks. Before he started training, we'd go up together at least once a week. I'd have him fly from the right seat (once at altitude) and try to impart good advice to give him a head start on his training. He always chides me with, "This is totally your fault!!" :)

You should be proud.

Couple of pics from a few weeks ago when we had all the smoke from the fires in California.

The reflection of the steam gauges in the window is cool as hell!

I knew a guy in Duncan, OK who owned this plane for awhile. Crazy paint job, but nice flying airplane according to him.

Took this for MSCARD88. If you zoom in, there is a nice message on the big screen for you.

Didn't need to, watched the game. Bama played like shet, and Auburn took Bama to the woodshed and earned it. All phases of the game. I hope their RB is healthy for the Championship game and hopefully more. As to Bama, depending on what happens next weekend, their season should be done except for a bowl game somewhere, Orange maybe. To be honest, I thought Bama was overated all year.

Of all the places to have a F-14 huh! So cool you stopped there to see it. First time I was there my daughter and I were crawling all over it, opening up ports and covers and even the steps! You know what would be wicked awesome, if they could permanently park it right on top of that huge compass rose out front. Think of the awesome shots the Mooney shop there could get with this badarse in the background. Nice terminal building too. If you ignore the high-end fancy terminal buildings at Flying Cloud, Anoka and Downtown St.Paul, this might be in the top 5 of terminal buildings in Minnesota.
