Nice! I quit messing around with my 3D printer the last few years but fired it up again over Christmas break. My goal was to see if I could replicate a deep cherry wood finish on a 3D printed item. I printed using HatchBox Wood PLA filament (30% wood, 70% plastic). You'll notice I printed it vertically. This is because the "side" of a 3d printed wood item looks a hell of a lot more legit than the bottom or top layer. Printing it vertically produced a more realistic surface with the horizontal grain from the printing layers.
Use this technique and you can make some sweet wood keychains!
Now that's interesting. I'll have to see if I can find some dimensions for these. Now if you guys could just print out these cup vents for Pipers instead of that thin, cheap, overpriced and breakable plastic it is made from now.
The small piper might pose a problem. I would have to lay it out to see if it would be printable. Other than that, no problem. What about something like this:

Shame you don't have green.
3D Hubs has been around for a few years. Provide a STL file online, negotiate the price, and pick up the widget in a few days. I did that with my original Stratux box. Finally a somewhat practical use for a 3D printer (I have always wondered, since most people seem to make little figurines or boxes for their Stratux). You definitely need to change your pricing model. I have helped with this type of pricing for my GF's studio. Charge for design and charge per color change. i.e. $5 per design, $8 for the first color (up to 450 sq mm x 3 mm) and $2 for each additional color or something like that. It has to be worth your time, or you will stop doing it after a while.
There are any number of STl files already created for aircraft parts, many on Thingverse. Here's my favoriteNow if you guys could just print out these cup vents for Pipers instead of that thin, cheap, overpriced and breakable plastic it is made from now.
It's due to the size. when you scale the logo to fit on a key-ring the piper is too small to print it will just be a little blob of plastic. The Piper isn’t a requirement. Is it a problem because it’s all out there on it’s own? Or is it too small? I think you could bring it back under the II and it would look good. I’d like the red to be blue to match my plane.
when you do, just print PMA # 234trash ... and charge $50 per unitNow if you guys could just print out these cup vents for Pipers instead of that thin, cheap, overpriced and breakable plastic it is made from now.
