Wear your uniform and get in free.
Check on the Blue Angels practice schedule. You might be able to see them flying. Here is the museum website. And while there, visit the restaurant. The displays are wonderful. (The only reason for eating there though IS the displays. It gives you more time to see them.)

John thanks been to the museum last year, love the military museums. Thought I might fly past and go on to Texas then stop on the way back Thanks again Ron

Might stop in Destin to see the beach.
When you go aboard NAS Pensacola make sure to stop at the lighthouse, great view. Its just across from the Museum.

Brush up on the airspace around Panama City Beach, Destin, Pensacola.

A lot of fun in New Orleans!! Stop at Lake Front KNEW. Take a taxi to the French Quarter. Good Food and Music.

Legend Cub factory, Sulfur Springs TX, NE of Dallas. A long way from the coast.

That week is spring break for many of the public schools here. All the family friendly destinations will be crowded.

Ah, if you are going to be along the coast of Texas my advice would be just don't land. Maybe from 5000 feet it will seem pretty. Who knows? But if you land and get out of the plane you will probably want to get back in the plane. I would close any vents you have open as you fly near Houston coastal region. They have their own smokey / oily / mucky version of what scientists refer to as "air" I think a plane can fly through it and maintain lift but your plane will probably fly like it is disappointed.

If you fly inland a bit there are parts of Houston that are beautiful.
Galveston is probably going to have some good places to eat.

Try this if you havent. Go to this site, and enter an airport you will be near, enter what you want (food, sightseeing, etc) and a radius in miles. It will give you interesting places to stop.

I don't know if they are still there or not, but there used to be a lot of restored aircraft in a hangar on the Branson, MO. field that that jet made the landing on when he missed the big Branson airport. Something Clark field. Some nice stuff. Beech 18, AT-6, a Stagger wing Beech, and some others.

Thanks to all for the info. If I have more specific questions I'll be back with them.
