Has anyone here started off with online ground school, flew some hours part 61 then transitioned to part 141 for the majority of the rest of program, would it depend on the program if they would accept the already completed ground school and written exam? Is it true 141 schools will accept 25% transfer of
Part 61 flight hours already flown? Is that per individual rating or total For all ratings? Are there any programs in central Florida that offer combined 61/141 that someone would recommend? New to all This, lots to learn.

141.77 addresses your questions.

For flight training, If the student completed a proficiency test and knowledge test that was conducted by the receiving pilot school and the training was received from other than a part 141- or a part 142-approved flight training course, the credit is limited to not more than 25 percent of the flight training requirements of the curriculum.

For Ground Training, if the student completed a knowledge test that was conducted by the receiving pilot school and the previous training was received from other than a part 141- or a part 142-approved aeronautical knowledge training course, the credit is limited to not more than 25 percent of the aeronautical knowledge training requirements of the curriculum.

clip4, thank you for the info. Given it’s limited to 25% of that school’s curriculum, would the additional already trained hours still count towards a pilots total time hours?

The 141 school does not reduce any hours in your logbook. They simply enter the numbers of hours they are going to credit in the student training record and that time counts toward completing the private curriculum.

The training record is basically a grade card containing the lessons given and task evaluations. You need the required lessons, flight times and passing scores at each phase to progress.

When you complete the training you retain all the hours of flight time.

My son is starting a Restricted ATP Bachelors at college next year. We were told it would be beneficial to come with his private but nothing further could be accepted before starting in their program. He will start with IFR ground and practical when he starts in the fall.

It is FAA regulation that you must obtain the instrument and commercial through a college program in order to get the R-ATP at 1,000 hours instead of 1,500.
