a friend of mine is flying for Co-ex, just started out so he's making peanuts. his base is Newark. he needs a cheap place to sleep - anyone know of cheap crash pads?

I don't have any idea but as social commentary it's a shame that a professional pilot, even one early in his career can't make a living wage.
 
you got it. he does have friends in Rutgers he could stay with for free, but the time and cost to get there 4 days a week isn't a win-win for him.
 
Even with the AirTrain?

The Northeast Corridor line runs right through New Brunswick. That line also connects to the new AirTrain service over to Newark.

I can see your point on time, but not on cost.
 
apparently it is 20 bucks RT, which 4 times a week means 320 bucks. I guess he's saying that 320 bucks isn't worth it to him - I don't even know how far out Rutgers is from Newark. Maybe he'd pay that to live next to the airport, I don't know. Or maybe 320 is simply too much, period. I don't know. When he told me how he was living I was horrified.
